Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s pleasant few days at Invictus Games 2023, the Duchess’ father Thomas Markle has given an explosive interview to Good Morning Britain. In the interview, he says his royal daughter has ‘no excuse’ for keeping him away from his grandchildren.

Meghan Markle has another PR nightmare on her hands following her few good days at Düsseldorf in Germany with hubby Prince Harry. The couple was making the most of the 2023 Invictus Games with the Duchess giving us some unforgettable fashion looks. However, the tide of opinions on social media has changed following her father Thomas Markle’s recent explosive interview with Good Morning Britain. The Duchess’ estranged father made several wild claims in the interview.

Thomas Markle says ‘there’s no excuse’ for Meghan’s conduct

Thomas who suffered a stroke last year, had difficulty speaking during the interview. However, he still voiced his opinions about his relationship status with Meghan and her family. He slammed his daughter for keeping him away from his grandkids saying, “It’s a cruel thing to do a grandparent.”

When asked about what he had to say to the 42-year-old royal if she was still listening, he said, “Put the past behind. Allow me to see my grandkids.” He then goes on about how “there is no excuse for her (Meghan) to treat me this way.” He also expresses his empathy towards King Charles who has also not spent a lot of time with Prince Harry’s kids – Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2. Thomas further says there is “no excuse to treat the King that way too.”

The ailing dad also looked back at his past rift with his daughter and his staged paparazzi photos ahead of Harry and Meghan’s marriage. He opined “I have done nothing wrong” further saying, “I am a very loving father.” He claims he was set up to take those staged pictures. “I was set up to ruin the wedding. It was a ploy. I was a victim.”

Meghan has gone ‘no contact’ with father since royal wedding

In his recent interview, the 79-year-old media personality admitted that Meghan hasn’t spoken to him at all since she got married to Harry.

One of the hosts asked whether the former Suits actress made any attempt to reach out to her father when he had a stroke. “You had a stroke, you were very ill with that stroke, you lost the power of speech. Did Meghan make any attempt, even via a third party, to see how you were doing?” the host asked.

To this, the American director said “To my knowledge, no attempt at all. No one tried. I haven’t seen Meghan and Harry in five years. The last time I spoke with them, I was in a hospital bed before the wedding.”

What happened between Meghan and her father?

The dad and daughter’s relationship turned completely sour after the Daily Mail shared parts of a private letter the Duchess of Sussex had sent to him. Meghan later sued the publication for publishing a part of the private note.

Despite the rumors, Thomas denied sharing the private letter with the mail in the recent interview. Ahead of the wedding, the award-winning lighting director for TV was also involved in taking staged photos meant to “ruin” Meghan and Harry’s wedding.

After the former actress’ wedding, Thomas claimed in an interview that he reached out to his daughter via the palace but heard nothing back. In a long interview with Mail, Thomas slammed his daughter saying he “made her the Duchess she is today.”
