Prince Harry turning down an offer from his dad King Charles to visit him when he was in the UK has been branded ‘childish’ by a royal expert. He warns the duke is now facing a ‘big lesson’ as it appears royal ties are still fraying, despite the best efforts of the monarch.

Prince Harry‘s fleeting trip back to the UK for the WellChild event came on the eve of the first year since his grandmother’s death. Queen Elizabeth II tragically passed away on September 8 last year. A few weeks ago, the Duke of Sussex was back in his homeland during this somber time. However, he reportedly snubbed King Charles by turning down an offer of visiting the royal family up at Balmoral during his stay. Now, a royal expert has claimed the behavior is ‘childish’ as the family feud continues to boil over.

Prince Harry has nowhere left to go

Recent reports claim the Duke wrote to his father asking to stay at one of the royal residences, alongside using palace security, during his stay in the UK. The request went through to his aides, who explained Harry would need to submit a formal request for the stay. This is likely due to Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle, no longer being senior members of the royal family.

Harry and Meghan’s official titles have been stripped. The palace updated their website with the new information earlier this year, confirming the status as well.

The couple cannot use His/Her Royal Highness or use their royal titles in any official capacity. Although, they will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This is because the Sussex titles were bestowed upon the duo as a wedding gift from the late Queen.

But it seems stepping away from the palace has left Harry with no choice but to walk down official avenues when asking to stay with his family.

Sources say Harry was told royals travelled up to Balmoral, Scotland, to mark the Queen’s death. As most of the royal staff were hundreds of miles away, there wasn’t a viable option he could stay in London. Charles reportedly offered an olive branch, by inviting the 39-year-old to visit them in Scotland, but he turned him down. Instead, the dad-of-two stayed in a hotel before traveling to Düsseldorf in Germany for this year’s Invictus Games.

Prince Harry’s behavior branded ‘childish’

Former royal correspondent Charles Rae told GB News: “[It] shows how childish that young man has become.

“Charles has been criticized over the last few weeks about not doing enough to send out the olive branch and everything else. But here he has, he sent out a huge great big olive branch and Harry has snapped it in half.

“He’s flown more than 5000 miles to Britain to attend a fabulous charity and his dad says ‘you come up here because that’s where the royals are’.”

Mr Rae added: “Harry could have done that, but no, he chose instead to go and pay his respects on his own, which he is entitled to do. But he keeps on banging on about the royal family … Charles is king, but he’s also a loving father. Make no doubt about that, Charles loves his boys equally.

“I think Harry is learning a big lesson on this now.”

Charles has a ‘duty to his country’

Royal fans have spoken out about the recent rift between the monarch and his sons.

One royal fan wrote: “I’m sure Charles does love both his sons equally. However, his actions as a father should not exceed his actions as a Monarch. He has a duty to his Country and the Commonwealth, and Harry has disrespected both.”

Another penned: “King Charles III would always love Prince Harry, not matter what.”

While one user hopes Meghan and Harry will return to piece the family back together. They said: “This is reassuring, need Harry & Meghan to return to the UK and help boost the feel good factor…”
