She’s best known for her role in Suits, however, she did appear in a music video before this.
The music video in question is Tori Amos’ 1000 Oceans, filmed all the way back in 1999. Although only a brief cameo, there’s one distinctive quirk she can be seen doing. Let’s take a look.
Meghan Markle’s ‘distincitive quirk’ in music video
Meghan Markle has been observed around the globe since she joined the royals and started dating Prince Harry, and there’s one thing people, have noticed she does quite a lot. That it, touching or ‘brushing’ her hair back.
And that’s exactly what she can be seen doing in the music video from over two decades ago, which shows it’s not a habit she just recently picked up.
In the shoot, she can be seen in a crowd around the stage, and although a little blurry, it’s highly obvious it’s the Duchess. Whilst in awe of the performance on stage, she can be seen touching her hair and pushing it behind her ears.
Cut to the modern day, it seems like the 42-year-old still hasn’t shaken this ‘distinctive quirk.’ Body language experts have described this as a “soothing gesture.”
Blanca Cobb, a body language expert told The Express that “some people go to touch their hair, might even rub their arms, or play with their fingernails, as a way to psychologically calm themselves when they’re feeling anxious, uncomfortable, or stressed.”
“Some people might touch, twirl, or stroke their hair when in awkward social situations such as when they’re not sure what to do or what to say,” she continued.
The expert then told the publication that “context is key” and if someone makes these gestures in non-stressful situations, it may just be a habit “they’re not even aware of.”
Blanca noticed that Markle sometimes also has her head slightly tilted down, and said this can be seen as a way to “shield yourself.”
Meghan Markle has starred in more music videos
The 1999 music video wasn’t Meg’s only time in the scene. She’s actually appeared in a number of other videos, some when she was married. Although, in this one, she hadn’t even met her first husband.
Meghan didn’t meet Harry until July 2016, which was 17 years after the 1000 Oceans video. She was married once before then to movie producer Trevor Engelson, but didn’t meet him until early 2000s. The former couple married in 2011 before the relationship ended in 2014.
However, when she was married to Trevor, she actually appeared in a 2012 Christmas video, alongside Suits co-stars Rick Hoffman and Sarah Rafferty for Richard Marx’s Christmas Spirit, where she can be seen sporting a Santa hat.
She was surrounded by other big-name celebs in what can only be imagined as a hefty-budget vid, including Hugh Jackman and Rita Wilson.
