The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from the royal life and Prince Harry‘s family three years ago. The two moved across the pond to the United States and are trying to break into the celebrity world. While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been spiling the royal family’s secrets abroad, the royals may be preparing someone new to fill in their shoes.
Royals’ secret weapon to replace Meghan and Harry
The royals have what could be their potential secret weapon to fill in the gap the Sussexes have left. Former Mail on Sunday Assistant Editor Kate Mansey recently told True Royalty TV (as reported by Mirror) the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie’s daughter Lady Louise Windsor would take on royal duties in the future.
Lady Louise is 19 years old at present, and she’s the older child of Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie. They also share James, Earl of Wessex.
“I think Lady Louise would; from people, I speak to in the Palace, Lady Louise I think is quite willing to do that,” Mansey told the outlet. The youngster is currently a student at St Andrews University, where both Prince William and Kate Middleton studied. She’s currently studying English.
Lady Louise Windsor was often dubbed the Queen’s favorite grandchild and has been raised away from the media spotlight. Mansey also recalls seeing Louise at an event and commended how good she was at talking to the dignitaries.
“I remember going to some Guildhall event and she was with her father, and very competently circulating talking to dignitaries and foreign royals… She is at university at the moment; there’s plenty of time for them to do that” she says.
Duchess Sophie wants to let her daughter “live her life”
While Lady Louise has stayed away from the media’s gaze for the most part, she did play a more public role in her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II‘s state funeral. However, Duchess Sophie told the BBC back in 2021 that she wanted her to let her daughter “live her life.”
She revealed how both she and Prince Edward are “protective” of Louise. She also noted how she is not on social media.
While talking about her protective instincts, Sophie also said: “But I have to let her live her life. It’s not mine to live. I can only equip her with the best that I can, and then she has to make her own choices.” However, the mother also expressed that she wants her teen to have as private life as possible for the upcoming few years.
How many working royals are there at the moment?
The British Royal family has a total of 11 working royals in 2023. First and foremost are His Majesty King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla. The Prince and Princess of Wales – Prince William and Kate Middleton are the next in line to the throne.
Anne, the Princess Royal, is another. The next two are the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh – Prince Edward and Sophie. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince Richard, and Birgitte are also a part of the mix. Then there’s Prince Edward of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy.
