Sources have revealed that it is “unlikely” that King Charles will invite his estranged family over to the UK for Christmas. It had previously been claimed that the King could still invite Prince Harry, his wife, and their two children to England for the festive period.
Harry and Meghan may not receive Christmas invitation
Speaking to the Daily Mail, sources have said that they believe that, instead of inviting the Sussexes for Christmas, the King will host Harry and Meghan Markle in the new year. They say that this would be to avoid clashes between the 39-year-old and his older brother Prince William.
The King could invite the couple and their two children Archie, four, and Lilibet, two, to spend time together in Scotland when William, 41, would be with his wife Kate Middleton, and their three children at Anmer Hall, their Norfolk home.
“It would certainly have the advantage of killing two birds with one stone; extending an olive branch to one son without causing difficulty to the other,” the source said.

“Christmas plans are normally nailed down by now as Sandringham isn’t a particularly big place and there’s not a lot of room for the entire extended family,’ another source cautioned.
“It would be surprising for the Sussexes not to have received an invitation by now if there was going to be one. New Year in Scotland would be more likely. But as with anything to do with Harry and Meghan, let’s face it, anything can happen.”
Meghan hints she and Harry will spend Christmas in US
On Monday, while at Variety’s Power of Women on Thursday (November 16), which was held at the Mother Wolf in Los Angeles, the 42-year-old seemed to suggest that their family would remain in the US for the holidays. She opened up about traditions that she and her husband are starting to introduce.
The former TV actress said: “We’re creating new ones now that our little ones are growing up. And we’re enjoying every moment of it. I love trimming and decorating the tree with my children.”
Is a UK Christmas still on the cards?
Other sources have claimed that the King doesn’t want to sour his relationship with the royal couple and his grandchildren any more than it already is.
King Charles has barely seen Archie and Lilibet since they were born after Harry and Meghan stepped down from the royal family in 2020.
