Meghan Markle has hinted that she and her husband, Prince Harry, will spend the Cristmas period away from the royal family and remain in the US.

Meghan Markle seemed to suggest in an interview with E! News that she and her family will stay in California rather than travel to England. This would mean that Prince Harry would not spend Christmas closer to home.

Meghan and Harry’s Christmas traditions

Speaking to E! News during Variety’s Power of Women on Thursday (November 16) at Mother Wolf in Los Angeles, the former TV actress opened up about new traditions that she is creating with her children and husband.

“We’re creating new ones now that our little ones are growing up. And we’re enjoying every moment of it. I love trimming and decorating the tree with my children.”

It has not been confirmed whether Meghan and Harry, who face “crisis point” after “failing to impress,” would join the royal family next month to celebrate the festive season.

“I can’t imagine the Sussexes would decline an invitation to spend time with His Majesty,” a source told The Sunday Times. However, they did acknowledge that invites for Christmas were yet to be sent.

A source told the Daily Mail that King Charles wanted to spend more time with his two youngest grandchildren. The King has five grandchildren, with some gained through his marriage to Camila.

Things haven’t gone to plan for Meghan and Harry

After the royals, who married in 2018, left the royal family (aka The Firm) two years later in 2020, they have embarked on many brand deals. This includes both Netflix, where they released their explosive docuseries Harry & Meghan, and Spotify. However, it hasn’t “gone to plan.’

Omid Scobie, who wrote the biography Finding Freedom about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as the upcoming book Endgame, has admitted that the pair have had discussions about their ventures failing.

He said: “When I spoke to people in their orbit, they admit that it hadn’t quite gone to plan” and said that they “really need to establish what their purpose is.”
