The Princess of Wales and other members of the royal family saw a lot of their own histories unfold in Netflix’s The Crown. While the show itself said it was a blend of fact and fiction, it reportedly upset some of The Firm, in particular, Prince William.
While the future king and queen have been married for 14 years, and together for almost 25 – there were former flames before they set eyes on one another.
Kate Middleton reportedly had a few ex-boyfriends before she found her own Prince Charming, and one of them was even invited to her royal wedding!
Princess of Wales’ love life was a feature on The Crown
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s romance and subsequent marriage seems so perfect it almost feels like it was written in the stars.
But Netflix’s The Crown put their love story into perspective for younger fans when it hit the streaming giant.
Although the royals’ romance began very early on at the University of St Andrews, they did date a few other people before getting together. Kate Middleton namely dated a very handsome guy in her ex-boyfriend before falling for the future King.

Who is Kate Middleton’s ex-boyfriend Rupert Finch?
The Crown put Kate Middleton’s relationship with ex-boyfriend Rupert Finch into the limelight. The two briefly dated at university before Catherine, Princess of Wales, struck up a romance with Prince William.
Rupert Finch was Kate Middleton’s classmate at St Andrews. As per Hello Magazine, he now works as a lawyer in London and is married to Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs. Lady Natasha is the daughter of the Marquess of Reading. She reportedly is also the founder of one of Kate’s favourite fashion brands, Beulah.
After graduating from the University of St. Andrews, Rupert attended the College of Law (present-day University of Law) in Guildford.
Despite his history with Kate, there were no hard feelings between them, as he was invited to Kate and Prince William’s royal wedding in 2011.
How many boyfriends did Kate have before William?
Before Kate met Prince William, she dated her Marlborough College classmate Harry Blakelock. The future Queen parted ways with Harry when she left for St Andrew’s but was reportedly heartbroken over her breakup.
Harry reportedly tied the knot with a classmate of Kate’s and is now a partner at the independent insurance broker, Lockton.
Willem Marx was another one of Kate’s classmates at Marlborough College. The Prince William look-alike is now a CBS News correspondent. He was also among the attendees at Kate and William’s royal wedding.
When Kate and William took a break from one another in 2007, she reportedly briefly dated Henry Ropner. He is the son of businessman John Ropner and one of William’s friends from Eton.
