Many have said Meghan Markle wanted her celebrity lifestyle back, and one royal expert is suggesting they’ve ‘failed in Hollywood’ and it wasn’t as easy as they once thought.
Before meeting Prince Harry, Meghan was known for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit TV show Suits. Meghan was living the Hollywood lifestyle, before giving it all up to join Harry in the royal family. However, it’s proven harder to get back in than she may have once thought, a TV commentator has said.
Meghan and Harry have ‘failed in Hollywood,’ royal author says
Since departing the royal family, Meghan Markle has had a deal with Spotify, and Netflix, alongside her husband. The Duchess released her podcast, Archetypes on the platform, however, the deal was axed and the multi-million dollar deal fell through.
Talk TV’s royal editor, Sarah Hewson says things “have not been easy for Harry and Meghan. I think trying to find financial independence has been much harder than they might have anticipated.”
Although the Duchess signed a new contract last spring with talent agency WME, we’re yet to see anything come out of that, Sarah recalls. The couple has also hinted about ‘exciting projects’ but yet again, we’ve not yet seen anything.
Earlier this week, Meghan was ‘snubbed’ by her former Suits co-stars, who reunited at the Golden Globes.
The editor says the couple “have done these commercial deals because they needed the money. They wanted to launch a big life in California.” They also have security costs, and Harry has legal fees to pay.
“But it isn’t as easy to come up with the goods as at first they might have thought it,” she concludes.
The couple is set to attend huge Hollywood event
Despite their ‘snubs’ in Hollywood over the last few years, next week, the couple will be attending the Aviation Hall of Fame Awards, where they’ll be set to mingle with A-Listers.
The Duke will be presented with a ‘Legend of Aviation’ award by A-List movie actor, John Travolta, who is an aviation ambassador.
The Dirty Dancing star has been linked to the family for many years, dancing with Princess Diana at a White House gala dinner in 1985. He later called it “one of the highlights of my life”.
