Kate Middleton is currently staying in the hospital after planned surgery, for at least 14 days. After that, she’ll be taking prolonged time off from royal duties. However, one royal author is ‘concerned’ about the long stay, especially as the Princess has ‘the comfort at home’ for nurses to come in and look after her.

The royals have not disclosed exactly what surgery Kate Middleton had, describing it as ‘planned abdominal surgery’. The Princess of Wales underwent the procedure on January 16, and Prince William has been seen visiting his wife at the London clinic.

Kate Middleton’s prolonged hospital stay is ‘scary’ says royal biographer

Royal biographer, Angela Levin, who spent time with Prince Harry while writing Harry: Conversations with the Prince calls Kate’s stay ‘scary’ and ‘concerning’.

“It’s very unusual to stay in hospital for 14 days if at home you’ve got the comfort you could have with someone coming in and looking after you,” she tells GB News. “They could get nurses galore, and the children could see their mother.”

It’s been announced that the 42-year-old won’t be doing anything until around Easter time, which Levin says is the “most scary” part.

“She’s very thin, but she works so hard and tries so hard, that I think it’s really very concerning that she’s there.” the biographer says, before continuing: “She’s not the sort of woman who wants to stay in a hospital really.”

As well as Kate’s surgery, King Charles is also scheduled to undergo medical treatment for an enlarged prostate. Levin says it must be a ‘lonely’ time for Prince William, having both his father and wife go through health troubles.

However, he’s doing his best for his children, who will be “cheering him up.” She links it back to when the eldest had to become the ‘man of the house’ for his mother Princess Diana, when she was going through mental health struggles when he was just 15.

Alongside Kate and Charles, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson has opened up about her own recent health struggles as she’s been diagnosed with skin cancer.

Fergie took to her Instagram to tell her followers she had been “taking time to herself,” although she looked in good spirits. It’s also said that Kate is “doing well” after her surgery.

The 64-year-old’s malignant melanoma diagnosis was her second cancer diagnosis in a year, as she underwent treatment for breast cancer last year.
