Kate, Princess of Wales, is “focused on herself and her family” following her cancer ordeal this year.

In March 2024, Kate Middleton announced to the world that she had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. It came after she underwent planned abdominal surgery in January.

Now that she has finished her treatment, Kate, 42, is slowly getting back to duties.

Princess Kate ‘not back to normal’ after cancer treatment

Speaking to People, an insider claimed that Kate “won’t be going back to work in the same way for a long time”.

They added: “Life-threatening illnesses bring a reconsideration of priorities. She and William have always made it clear that family is the most important thing.

“You can’t go through something like that and come out the other side unchanged. She is a different person now.”

Meanwhile, a family friend reportedly said that although Kate is “not back to normal,” there’s signs of “light at the end of the tunnel”.

Another source claimed that Kate has to “get back on top of it” and she will if she is “left alone to work it out for herself”.

Royal Insider has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.

Princess of Wales announced cancer diagnosis in personal video

In March, the princess shared the news of her cancer diagnosis with the world. At the time, she said in a personal video message: “This of course came as a huge shock. And William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

Then in September, following their summer break as a family, Kate announced she had completed her treatment.

You can’t go through something like that and come out the other side unchanged.

Alongside a touching family video, Kate said: “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.

“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

Princess Kate focusing on ‘staying cancer free’

She added: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

Prince William, 42, recently called the past year “dreadful” and “brutal” having both his father King Charles and wife dealing with cancer.

Speaking during his solo visit to South Africa in November, William said: “It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.

“I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”
