Speaking to The Telegraph, Tom recalled how the paparazzi would treat him and Camilla during the early stages of her relationship with Charles.
I learned a long time ago not to put my fat fingers into the world of William and Harry.
Rumours of Charles and Camilla’s relationship had been around during his marriage to Diana. Reports claimed Charles and Camilla had an affair in the late ’80s, years after he married Diana in 1981.

Camilla’s son Tom was ‘chased at 100mph by paparazzi’
Speaking about the media frenzy around his mother Queen Camilla at the time, Tom Parker Bowles said: “I remember being chased at 100mph by paps trying to get a shot. My mother being screamed at to try to get a reaction. Pushing, jostling. It was horrific, and you are protective of your mother.
“Counting how many paps were at the gates, to see who was watching us and taking photographs: it was all as normal as bacon and eggs in the morning. You didn’t think of it in any other way … [But] it was barbaric.”
He added of Charles and Diana’s sons Prince William and Prince Harry: “I learned a long time ago not to put my fat fingers into the world of William and Harry. But it was appalling what they went through. I’ve had a billionth of what they’ve had to go through but hell, I sympathise.”

Now, years on and Tom remains close to his mother and the royal family. In fact, he revealed that he received an invite to spend Christmas with them at Sandringham.
Members of the royal family usually gather at Sandringham to celebrate the festive period. It’s a tradition the late Queen Elizabeth II kept each year.
Since becoming monarch in 2022, the king has continued with the tradition. Tom said for the past 15 years, he spends Christmas at his ex-wife’s house and watches The Wild Geese with his kids.
So this year, Tom said it’ll feel “a bit different”. Probably the understatement of the year!
