Princess Eugenie is reportedly facing a “tricky situation” with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Christmas.

Recent reports claimed that the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had received an invitation from the Sussexes to join them in California for Christmas.

However, Eugenie, 34, and her family have also apparently been invited to spend the festive period with the royal family at Sandringham.

A source has now reportedly revealed how Eugenie has managed to make a “compromise” to please all her family.

Princess Eugenie’s ‘tricky situation’ with Harry and Meghan over Christmas

Eugenie shares a close bond with her cousin Prince Harry and his wife Meghan. So much so that the couple have invited Eugenie, husband Jack Brooksbank and their sons to spend the festive period with them.

A source told the Express last week: “Harry and Meghan have invited Eugenie and Jack to join them in California during the holidays. It’s a very difficult position for Eugenie because she has also been invited to Sandringham.”

The insider added: “It would be so nice for the children to spend time with their cousins.

It would be pretty bad form to refuse an invitation to Sandringham.

“The diary is very tight over the holidays but there might be a slot free around New Years’ time for everyone to come together at some point.”

Now, a royal expert has weighed in on Eugenie’s “compromise”.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “This is a tricky situation for Eugenie. It would be pretty bad form to refuse an invitation to Sandringham, and I imagine she would want to be with her mum and dad, after a difficult year for them as well.

“But I think she values her relationship with Harry and Meghan too. So a New Year’s visit would be an ideal compromise… and would keep a link between Harry and his UK family, which has to be a good thing all round.”

ED! has contacted reps for Buckingham Palace for comment.

This Christmas is reportedly set to be one of the royal family’s ‘biggest ever’ celebrations. Members of the family usually spend the festive period at Sandringham House in Norfolk.

Royal family’s ‘biggest ever’ Christmas

Speaking to Vanity Fair, a source claimed that more than 40 members of the family will come together at Sandringham.

King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and wife Kate will seemingly be there.

The source said: “Actually the plan is for them to all be at Sandringham for a very special big family Christmas.

“William and Catherine and the children will be there. The king and queen want their nearest and dearest with them to celebrate.”

It’s said that Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, has also been invited to spend it with the monarchy. He recently said he’s looking forward to a “different” kind of Christmas with the royals. It certainly will be different!
