Kate, Princess of Wales, could reach out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Christmas.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in California with their two children – son Prince Archie, five, and daughter Princess Lilibet, three.

They moved overseas after quitting their senior royal roles in early 2020.

Reports claim they won’t be returning to the UK for spend Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham. However, they still might receive festive messages from their relatives despite strained relationships.

A former royal butler thinks Kate, 42, could be the one behind the message.

Princess Kate to ‘reach out’ to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Christmas

Speaking to Slingo, former royal butler Grant Harrold has suggested that it might be the Princess of Wales who reaches out to Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43.

I like to think deep down that things are moving in the right direction.

When asked if he thinks any of the royals will call the Sussexes this Christmas, Grant said: “I believe that Catherine will reach out to Harry and Meghan and wish them a Happy Christmas and I think Harry and Meghan themselves will possibly reach out.

“The thing about Christmas is that it’s all about goodwill to others, letting bygones be bygones, forgetting the past, moving into the new Year.”

Grant continued: “So if there’s any point in the year that the families are going to communicate or touch base, it’s going to be over Christmas – there’s something magical about Christmas that gets families back together.

“I’d like to think that they will all be communicating, whether that is done by text calls or FaceTime – I’d like to think FaceTime, but that’s something we will never know.”

He added: “I like to think deep down that things are moving in the right direction. I have a feeling that they are. I really do think they are, but that’s just my personal feeling.”

Harry and Meghan spending Christmas in the UK

This year, the royal family will reportedly spend Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk. According to reports, it could be the monarchy’s “biggest ever” Christmas with 40 family members attending.

Grant also addressed whether Prince Harry and Meghan would ever spend a Christmas in the UK. Since quitting royal life, the couple have celebrated the holidays in America.

They live in Montecito, California, with their two kids.

The royal butler said: “I just think Meghan’s too much of an American girl, she doesn’t want to be in the UK permanently.

“I can see her coming over for the holidays and having time over here, but living here permanently? I just don’t see it.

“Whereas Harry, I do see it. I think he could be open to returning, although I do think it’s highly unlikely. As I always keep saying, never say never.”
