Prince William and Kate to 'step in' for King Charles and Camilla amid 'awful toll' of overseas tours
It's been a turbulent 2024 for the royal familyPrince William and wife Kate could step in for King Charles and Queen Camilla more in 2025 following a turbulent 2024 for the royal family.
This year has been a tough time for the royals following the king and the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnoses.
Kate, 42, announced the end of her chemotherapy treatment in September. At the time of writing, the king, 76, is still receiving treatment.
As the pair dealt with their health issues, they both decreased the number of duties they were performing. But some things could change in the new year.

Prince William and Kate to ‘step in’ more for King Charles and Queen Camilla in 2025
2024 has also seen the queen consort deal with some health issues, suffering from a chest infection and viral pneumonia.
Amid King Charles and Queen Camilla‘s health woes, former royal butler Paul Burrell has suggested the Prince and Princess of Wales could step up when it comes to duties.
He said that the king and queen’s October tour of Australia and Samoa may have taken an “awful toll” on them.
Kate will be particularly, and will be brought into the fold even more.
Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Paul Burrell said of 2025 for the royals: “You’re going to see a continued changing shape. The king and queen are not in the best health. They are in their late 70s now.
“I think you’re going to see, now Kate has returned to good health, her and William stepping in and delegating for the king and queen.
“I wouldn’t wish this upon them but those long haul visits to the likes of Australia and New Zealand are a thing of the past. They’ve done it, and they probably won’t be doing it again. It took an awful toll for them both to do that journey.”

Paul Burrell says William and Kate will be ‘more visible’ in 2025
Paul, who was the late Princess Diana’s butler for a decade, said Prince William and Kate will become “more visible” next year.
He continued: “Kate will be particularly, and will be brought into the fold even more and more visible representing the king and queen at state occasions both in this country and overseas.
“That will be the main gear change next year. We won’t see Andrew or Fergie, we won’t see Harry and Meghan in this country much. I think they understand they aren’t liked very much here, and I think it’s fair to say that.
“Their popularity is at an all time low and they should build their lives on a different continent.”

Latest on Princess of Wales’ cancer
Kate announced her cancer diagnosis publicly in March. She said she was stepping back from duties to focus on her health.
Then in September, Kate revealed she had completed her treatment and she was focusing on staying cancer-free.
Meanwhile, the king’s cancer diagnosis was announced in February. While he is still undergoing treatment, Charles has continued with his royal duties.
