Prince William and Princess Kate to enjoy ‘second honeymoon’

An insider told Closer that the couple’s bond has only grown stronger through the trials they’ve faced this year.

“Wills is ever the romantic – Kate values their alone time, nothing is more special than having her prince to herself,” the source shared. “So he’s planning a romantic getaway – just the two of them – Wills has set the wheels in motion to whisk Kate away.”

2024 has been especially taxing for the royal couple. Kate, 42, became a source of inspiration for many as she courageously battled cancer, opening up about her diagnosis and treatment journey.

In September 2024, she and William shared a hopeful video marking the end of her chemotherapy. Despite this good news, Kate acknowledged that her path to recovery would be a long one.

The source highlighted William’s admiration for Kate’s strength.

“This has been a tough year for Kate and Wills and a complete emotional rollercoaster,” the insider added.

“He’s confided to friends that everything has been thrown in their path, but he is proud of how they have weathered the storm. However, he has watched on as Kate has had to operate on autopilot this year to put on a normal show for the children and to get by – so an MOT for the soul is much needed for them both to reconnect.”

The source suggested the trip could also include a private vow renewal ceremony.

The insider claimed that those close to William and Kate “wouldn’t be surprised if the royal couple took this time to reaffirm their wedding vows in a private blessing”.

Africa – a place of significance for the couple – is believed to be the destination of choice.

It was in Kenya, on the slopes of Mount Kenya, that William proposed to Kate in 2010.
