Meghan, Duchess of Sussex would have been a “natural” royal if she hadn’t quit her senior role within the monarchy.

In early 2020, Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, stepped back from their senior royal roles and moved to the United States. They have since set up home there with their two children – Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, – and have become financially independent – something they wanted to do.

Meghan now has a new Netflix series launching in January 2025 – With Love, Meghan – where she will offer her top tips and tricks on a range of topics from cooking to gardening.

But how would life have looked for Meghan if she and Harry were still in the royal family? An expert weighed in…

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex would have been a ‘natural’ royal

Royal biographer Andrew Morton previously told the Mirror‘s podcast, Pod Save the King: “The great tragedy, I think, is that Meghan and Harry didn’t give it long enough to see whether they could give it a go. They were on the out almost before the wedding music had finished.”

He then added: “Meghan is a natural, I’ve got pictures of her when she was age 10 leading a march against the first Gulf War at her school. The local TV cameras turned up and she was there giving interviews.”

Andrew also said that people respond to Prince Harry in a “very positive way”. He said: “There is obviously a lot of negativity surrounding their behaviour and their policies but Harry has always been someone who connects.”

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix Show

After quitting their royal duties, Harry and Meghan signed a reported multi-million pound deal with Netflix.

This week, Netflix has released a trailer for Meghan’s new lifestyle show. It will premiere on the streaming giant on January 15, with all eight episodes dropping in one go.

It was filmed in Montecito in California – where Harry and Meghan live.

The great tragedy, I think, is that Meghan and Harry didn’t give it long enough to see whether they could give it a go.

The series will see the duchess share her favourite tips and tricks for cooking, gardening and crafting. A variety of celebrity guests will join her, and Harry will make a cameo.
