Meghan Markle's father Thomas set to quit US amid fractured relationship with daughter to 'enjoy the time he has left'
Thomas doesn't have a relationship with his daughterThe father of Meghan Markle has said he’s planning to quit the United States in a huge move to Asia.
Thomas Markle has a strained relationship with the Duchess of Sussex. It became fractured after she got engaged to Prince Harry. Thomas wasn’t at Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018.
Sitting down for a new interview, Thomas, 80, has said he’s making a “fresh start” in 2025 and is planning a move to Asia.

Thomas currently lives in Rosarito in Mexico – 250 miles away from Meghan and Prince Harry, who live in California.
Speaking to the MailOnline about his decision to move away from the US, Thomas said: “I am ready for a change. I have felt stuck in a rut for some time and I am ready to meet new people and experience kindness.”
He said he’s considering a move to Southeast Asia after travelling there as a “younger man”.
Thomas continued: “I travelled in that part of the world when I was a younger man. The people are so kind and welcoming, and they are respectful to older people,’ he said. It is a place of culture and beauty.
“I don’t know where I’ll end up but it is time to move on and find a place where I can live among kind people and enjoy the time I have left.”

Meanwhile, the former TV lighting director said he wishes Meghan “no ill-will” and admitted his “dream” is that “one day I could bring my whole family together, like a ‘normal’ family”.
In 2023, Thomas made a TV appearance on Good Morning Britain as he made a plea to his estranged daughter.
I have felt stuck in a rut for some time and I am ready to meet new people and experience kindness.
He said: “I’ve done nothing wrong. A matter of fact, I’m a really loving father and she knows that. There’s no excuse for her to treat me this way.”
When asked what he would want to say to Meghan, Thomas added: “I’ve always been here for her and I still love her. I want her to reach out to me and let me see my grandchildren and let me have a little peace.

“In my mind, I really believe that she and Harry should take the kids and go back to England and give them some exposure.”
Meanwhile, it’s believed that Thomas hasn’t yet met Harry or his grandchildren – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
