Princess Kate is “throwing herself” into looking after her three children following her cancer battle.

In March 2024, the Princess of Wales announced her cancer diagnosis and began chemotherapy treatment. In September of last year, Kate revealed she had completed her treatment and was focusing on staying cancer-free.

Kate, 42, reduced her duties whilst she underwent treatment, but made a few appearances for big events including Trooping the Colour. Later into the year, after her treatment ended, Kate made more frequent appearances but kept it minimal.

Now, heading into 2025, reports claim that Kate is focusing on her family as she slowly gets back to full-time duties.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! that Kate will “certainly be hoping for a very different January to last year’s”.

I think Catherine will be throwing herself into supporting them as they return to school.

She added: “Now hopefully she can celebrate turning 43 with a good deal of optimism that the worst is behind her. I’m sure that as each week goes by she will continue to feel stronger. And she has a lot to look forward to – with her mother’s big birthday as well as plenty to do with her early years projects.”

Jennie also said: “Life with three children is never going to be quiet, and I think Catherine will be throwing herself into supporting them as they return to school, and rejoicing that a truly rotten year has now ended.”

What cancer did Kate have?

Kate didn’t reveal which cancer she had. It’s remained unknown throughout her treatment process.

In September, the Princess of Wales announced the end of her treatment and detailed the “incredibly tough” time for them as a family.

Alongside a family video of their summer break, Kate said: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

The princess added: “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.

“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus.”

Some royal commentators have said Kate could take a while to return to duties fully. Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News: “I’m sure [we] will see more of her, but there have been no dates or indications given, so I do think we have to be careful.”
