King Charles reportedly feels worry over his brother Prince Andrew amid all the scandal he faced over the years.

The Duke of York has faced much scrutiny over the last few years. He resigned from his royal duties in 2020 over his association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew faced a civil lawsuit in 2022 after Virginia Giuffre – an alleged victim of Epstein – accused him of sexual assault. The duke denied all the allegations against him, and the lawsuit was settled out of court.

Andrew, 64, paid an undisclosed sum to Giuffre. He lost his honorary military affiliations and royal patronages and has since remained out of the royal limelight.

More recently, Andrew made headlines once again over his association with an alleged ‘Chinese spy’.

Yang Tengbo, said to have been a “close confidant” of Andrew, has denied being a spy. He was banned from the UK in 2023 on national security grounds.

A rep for Andrew said he “ceased all contact” with the Chinese businessman following “advice” from officials.

Elsewhere, this week, Prince Andrew was reported to police for allegedly using a false name to register a company. Graham Smith, the CEO of Republic – an anti-monarchy campaign group – formally reported the incident to the police, reports claimed.

With all this going on, a royal expert thinks the king may have concerns over his brother.

King wants to keep situation with Andrew ‘calm and under control’

According to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, King Charles might not shut out Andrew completely.

She told the Mirror: “Nothing is going to change the fact that Andrew is Charles’ brother. The family already has two totally estranged brothers, it doesn’t need any more,” seemingly referring to Prince William and Prince Harry.

Jennie went on: “So I think this is a year when the king will try to keep the situation with Andrew calm and under control. A lot depends on what, if any, further stories or allegations are made against the duke in the coming months.

King Charles ‘concerned’ over brother Prince Andrew amid scandals

“That will dictate whether Charles will ever invite him to be part of private family gatherings or not. At the moment I don’t think the king wants to exacerbate the situation by taking punitive action.”

Jennie said the king worries that “kicking a man when he’s down can take a dangerous toll on mental health”.
