Inside Meghan Markle's 2025 rebrand - Instagram launch; moving away from royal title; returning to her 'grassroots'
New year, new Meghan! We’re only a couple of weeks into the new year and Meghan Markle has been making some big career moves – from her Netflix show to her Instagram launch.
Many royal experts believe the Duchess of Sussex, 43, is rebranding herself in 2025 as she focuses on her solo projects.
So from her social media comeback to distancing herself from royalty, how is Meghan rebranding herself this year? Let’s take a look…

Meghan Markle announces new Instagram account
Right at the start of the year, Meghan made a return to Instagram with a brand new account.
To mark her comeback, the duchess posted a black and white video of herself running barefoot on a beach.
She then drew “2025” in the sand before smiling at the camera, which her husband Prince Harry was reportedly behind.
Within just a couple of days, the account racked up more than one million followers. Then, on January 2, Meghan shared the trailer for her new Netflix show With Love, Meghan.
But on her Instagram, Meghan has disabled her comments. A PR expert branded this “strategic”.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, celebrity PR expert Ed Hopkins said: “Meghan Markle’s decision to disable comments on her new Instagram account seems like a strategic move with a focus on maintaining control over her personal narrative and wellbeing.”

Meghan’s new Netflix show
The eight-part lifestyle series will see Meghan share her cooking, crafting and gardening tips and tricks with viewers alongside celebrity guests.
On her Instagram, the duchess gushed: “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix.
She is moving away from the royal brand, not using her title on her new Netflix show and focusing on her own personal brand.
“Beyond grateful for the support – and fun!”
It was originally due to premiere on January 15 on Netflix but due to the wildfires across parts of Los Angeles, Meghan recently decided to postpone the launch until March 4.

Meghan Markle returning to ‘grassroots’ and distancing from royals with Netflix show
Meanwhile, a former royal butler has weighed in on Meghan’s rebrand in 2025. Grant Harrold has said Meghan is returning to her “grassroots” with her new venture.
Speaking to Royal Insider on behalf of JeffBet, Grant said of Meghan’s new Netflix show: “I really think that this is part of a big re-brand for Meghan and I believe that behind closed doors relations with the royals are improving and this will be a big reason behind her new direction.

“She is moving away from the royal brand, not using her title on her new Netflix show and focusing on her own personal brand. She obviously had her own brand before meeting Harry and a successful Instagram page and blog and she seems to be going back to that.”
He continued: “She seems to be returning to her grassroots, which is a safer territory and everyone liked her back then. And if they ever did want to do royal duties again on behalf of the king, then she needs to do projects like this rather than what they were doing before to not upset them.
“They have obviously tried something that didn’t really work before so she is trying a different approach that is likely to be looked more favourable on by the royal family.”
