How Prince William supported wife Kate throughout cancer
After Kate announced her cancer diagnosis publicly in March 2024, she stepped away from her royal duties as she focused on her treatment.
At the time, a source claimed that William “fully supported” Kate’s decision to share her diagnosis publicly. They added that William was “extremely proud” at her “courage and strength”.
Elsewhere, William took a brief break from his duties to support Kate and their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
According to reports, the Prince of Wales also took on the school run duties as well as cheering their children on from the sidelines during school activities as Kate underwent treatment.
In April 2024, William returned to duties and spoke about looking after his family during the difficult time.
Visiting a food distribution charity, William told volunteers that he was taking care of Kate.
He then continued to juggle his royal duties with looking after his family. He also supported Kate when she made a few public appearances, including Trooping the Colour in June 2024.

Kate’s statement announcing end of cancer treatment
In September, Kate shared she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. It came after the family’s summer break, which saw them enjoy some private time together as the children took their annual school break.
Alongside a family video, Kate wrote: “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.
“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

Prince of Wales details ‘brutal year’
In November 2024, William opened up about the “brutal” year as he admitted it was one of the “hardest” of his life. As well as Kate dealing with cancer, his father King Charles was also diagnosed and continues with his treatment now.
William told reporters during his trip to South Africa: “It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.

He wrote on Instagram: “To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable.
“George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.”
