Prince William lives up to his hilarious nickname from Mike Tindall as he pops into Wetherspoons pub
The prince wanted to know all things Aston VillaPrince William made a pitstop at a Wetherspoons pub yesterday (January 16) and it seems he has truly lived up to a royal nickname.
The Prince of Wales, 42, joined Aston Villa fans for a surprise meet-up, relaxing after a day of royal events.
Yesterday, Prince William was announced as the new patron of the College of Paramedics. And so he was spending the day out in Birmingham for its Emergency and Critical Care Conference.

Prince William makes pub trip to Wetherspoons
It was a big day for William, as it marked his first royal engagement of 2025. It was also on the same week his wife Kate confirmed her cancer was in remission.
During his visit to the conference, William met with paramedics as he explained he is committed in his new role to ensure support for first responders.
But after the events, Prince William went to a pub to meet up with Aston Villa fans. He bought them a round of drinks at Wetherspoons before the football match.
However, the choice of only buying everyone one drink proves that Mike Tindall may have been right about his nickname for the Prince.
On the Seven: Rob Burrow podcast in 2023, Mike – who is married to William’s cousin, Zara Tindall – admitted he calls William ‘One Pint Willy’.
He explained: “The Prince of Wales is known to me as One Pint Willy. He is not the best of drinkers. Coming from a sport where it is built on the social aspect and a couple of beers being sunk quite often. That is one thing I will give away for the Prince of Wales.”
Rob Burrow went on to have a conversation with the prince himself, and revealed that Mike had told the world.
However, William took it all in good manner and replied: “I think that might be some of the nicknames. But, he apologised to me about that. I said. ‘Mike, when you say you’re not going to mention anyone’s nicknames, that doesn’t mean you can then mention mine. That’s not fair.'”
But it seems in hindsight, Mike knew the prince pretty well!

Prince of Wales was ‘fantastic’ during pub visit
During Prince William’s pub trip this week, the Daily Mail reported that he had a pint of Bulmers cider, before heading to catch a train.
The publication spoke to some of the lucky football supporters who got to meet the future king.
I was quite amazed about how engaged he was with the club, his interest.
Steve Jones said it all came about as Aston Villa reached out and let them know what was happening.
Steve said: “We were contacted by the club saying Prince William wanted to meet a delegation of Villa fans as he was in Birmingham. He wanted to keep in the loop with everything going on at Villa.
“He was fantastic. I was quite amazed about how engaged he was with the club, his interest. He’s not a fair weather fan. He really loves the club with a passion.”
