King Charles ‘sends message’ to US President Donald Trump

Yesterday saw Donald Trump’s inauguration take place in Washington DC.

The 78-year-old was sworn in as the 47th President of the US, kick-starting his second term in office.

Following his inauguration, King Charles, 76, sent the president a private handwritten message congratulating him, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

The monarch’s private message is believed to have praised the relationship between the UK and the US. It was delivered to Trump on Monday.

Trump is known to have a strong admiration of the royal family, and has previously described Charles as being a “really wonderful guy”.

He also praised the late Queen Elizabeth II in the past, claiming they had “automatic chemistry”.

It’s expected that the king and Trump will meet at some point during the president’s second term.

King Charles thrills fans with appearance

Yesterday also saw the king make a royal visit to Aberdeen, Scotland.

The monarch was visiting the The Gordon Highlanders Museum. There he met volunteers, as well as veterans, including a 99-year-old D-Day veteran.

Some photos of the king’s time at the museum were uploaded to the official royal family Instagram account.

“The King has met volunteers and veterans at The Gordon Highlanders Museum, including 99-year-old D-Day veteran Jim Glennie, whose portrait by Carl Randall is displayed at the museum, courtesy of @royalcollectiontrust,” the post read.

Royal fans were thrilled with how well the king was looking. The monarch is still battling cancer after being diagnosed with the disease last year.

“His Majesty is looking so well! God Save The King!” one royal fan gushed in the comments.

“I hope you feel as well as you look!! You’re amazing,” another said. “You are looking absolutely fantastic,” a third wrote.

King Charles to be used a ‘political tactic’ to charm Trump

Last week, it was reported that the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, was planning on using the king as a way of charming the resident.

Trump coming into the office comes with the possibility of him charging the UK tariffs. One MP said it could be a “real economic disaster” for the UK if this were to happen. They also added that it could be “quite scary” for the Labour Party, as it would make it more difficult for them to be re-elected.

Trump likes the UK. We just need to milk that for what it’s worth.

However, one way the UK could stay on America’s good side is by using the royal family. And according to I News, Starmer knows that this is his best shot.

“Trump likes the UK. We just need to milk that for what it’s worth,” one Labour MP allegedly said.

“Obviously we do need to deploy the royals. The poor old royal family is going to be spending a lot of time with Trump in the future I suppose,” another then added.

A couple of things the royals could do would be to invite Trump for a second state visit to the UK. Alternatively, the royal family could head to America to meet with him.
