In a recent interview with The Times, Sarah opened up about her family and admitted she worries about her daughters “all the time”. Sarah also spoke about her two cancer diagnoses in 2023 and 2024.

She said: “You worry about them all the time. I still do now, when they’re adults. I think young people today have it harder than ever.

“Social media is a cesspit and it’s very frightening what young people are exposed to.”

Duchess of York was ‘honest and frank’ with daughters about her cancer

Sarah has had a difficult couple of years after being diagnosed with cancer twice.

The duchess was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and underwent a single mastectomy, and was then diagnosed with skin cancer in early 2024.

Speaking to HELLO! in 2024, Sarah gushed over her relationship with Beatrice and Eugenie.

You worry about them all the time. I still do now, when they’re adults.

She said: “I have the most exceptional family and I have an extraordinarily great team and I have an enormous ability to turn to joy.

“I have always brought up my girls to be so honest and frank that they know I’m going to tell it to them straight, however difficult it is.”

Sarah added: “So when they said: ‘Mummy, tell us the absolute truth – have they got all the cancer out?’ and the answer was yes, they knew they were safe.”

Sarah on being a grandmother

As well as being a mother, Sarah is also a doting grandmother to Beatrice and Eugenie’s children.

Gushing over being a granny during an appearance on daytime show This Morning, Sarah said: “It is one of the most precious, joyful, exciting moments because you’re so proud of your own children, and they’ve done such a good job. But then these are little naughties again, that you can play again.

“Boys are different, and I’ve got to know how to play with the train and not to do it wrong, and you know I’ve got to get it right. It’s really the most extraordinary thing to be a grandmother.”
