Princess Kate is reportedly adapting to a “new normal” following her cancer battle in 2024.

The Princess of Wales recently announced she’s now in remission with her cancer. She shared her diagnosis publicly last March, and revealed in September that she had completed her treatment.

During a recent visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital – where Kate received her cancer treatment – the princess, 43, admitted it’s “hard to get back to normal” after finishing treatment.

According to reports, Kate has now “drawn a line under the last year”.

Speaking to PEOPLE, a source claimed: “She has drawn a line under the last year, and she can move forward. The word ‘remission’ is such a positive one to use, and it just feels a veil has been lifted on their life of the last year, and that they can move forward with positivity and hope.”

They added: “It has been a tough journey — harder than we perhaps thought. She has been through a lot, and it has been a rough road. Serious illness like cancer does change you.

She has drawn a line under the last year, and she can move forward.

“She has a young family, and it makes you rethink everything—your purpose and what you want to do with your life.”

The source went on to say that Kate’s “new normal” won’t involve a big “reset”.

But how will she return to royal duties this year?

When she announced the end of her cancer treatment, Kate said she was “looking forward to being back at work”.

She said on Instagram: “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.

“I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams spoke exclusively to Royal Insider about Kate’s return to duties.

He explained: “I do think there will be enormous concern over the possibility of Kate overdoing it. So while we rejoice that she is ‘cancer-free’, we have been told she has a long way to go.

“Planning this next year will be challenging. We know how supportive William is and, behind the scenes, how helpful the Middleton family undoubtedly is.”

Elsewhere, royal correspondent Jennie Bond told GB News that Kate might not return to full-time duties “for a very long time”.

Jennie said: “She clearly found the new normal quite hard. I think her children and her family are her first priority.”
