Sarah Ferguson has previously opened up about living at Royal Lodge, the official residence of her ex-husband Prince Andrew, following their divorce.

She also once declared she “won’t let him down” despite their split many years ago.

The Duchess of York gave an honest interview alongside her sister, Jane, to the Sunday Times Magazine in December last year. In it, she opened up about her relationship with the royal family.

Despite their divorce in the ’90s, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah still live together in Windsor.

Sarah Ferguson on living with Prince Andrew at Royal Lodge

Last year, the Duchess of York spoke about living at 30-bedroom property Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park with Andrew, 64.

For a lot of 2024, it was reported that King Charles had attempted to get brother Andrew to leave the home he shares with Sarah. But he refused and appears to have found a mystery way of paying the bills – after Charles cut financial ties with him.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain in 2024, Sarah, 65, dodged the question about the reports between the brothers.

She said: “I’m a guest, for a start. I’m a very lucky guest and a very comfortable guest. I tend not to get involved in brothers’ discussions and I think that’s the safest place to be.”

Meanwhile, speaking to The Times in 2021, Sarah said: “When I’m in the UK I’m lucky enough to stay at Royal Lodge. I wouldn’t call it my home as that would be presumptuous.”

Sarah Ferguson said she ‘won’t let Andrew down’

In December 2024, Sarah opened up about her relationship with Prince Andrew.

Despite breaking up in 1992 and their divorce being finalised in 1996, the pair chose an unusual path to separation – living together to this day.

She told The Times: “I won’t let him down. He supports me as much as I support him. He has supported me through thick and thin. Not just marriage and divorce.”

As for her feelings for the prince, and if she has any regrets about anything, Sarah admitted: “I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew. I would do it all over again. 100 per cent.

“He is the best. A great man with a great heart, and kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life. But I gave up my anonymity that day. I was able to because love conquers all. It’s still with us today.”

He has supported me through thick and thin. Not just marriage and divorce.

Still speaking to The Sunday Times, Sarah revealed her first impressions of Andrew.

She said: “My first thought was that I was going to marry him. We came back into each other’s lives when [Princess] Diana invited me to Ascot in 1985. And six months later we were engaged.”

Duchess of York on supporting Andrew after Queen Elizabeth II’s death

This hasn’t been the first time she has opened up about her relationship with Andrew since their breakup. In 2023, she explained how Andrew was feeling after his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022.

She recalled taking the queen’s corgis for a walk with Andrew. She said on her her Tea Talks podcast: “It was moving actually. At one stage, both, Andrew and I, just sat quietly under some really beautiful trees. I asked him if he was all right without his mum and dad. He said it’s lonely. And he thinks about it a lot.”

Elsewhere, in 2018, Sarah had her first sit-down interview with a US publication in seven years. She revealed her relationship with Prince Andrew is now “a fairy tale”.

She explained to Modern Hero: “Now our life together is the greatest ever. It’s so hard to comprehend because we’re not normal. This is our fairy tale, and we’re telling it our way.”
