Princess Anne visited South Africa on a short tour this week but her husband Sir Timothy Laurence didn’t join her.

Timothy didn’t join the Princess Royal on the overseas trip because an injury left him unable to do so, according to reports.

The retired Royal Navy officer, 69, has reportedly focused on recovering from a suspected torn ligament.

Sir Timothy Laurence forced to miss South Africa trip with Princess Anne

According to reports, Princess Anne travelled to South Africa herself after Sir Timothy became injured while working on her Gatcombe estate.

Sir Timothy reportedly needed treatment in the UK, meaning he was unable to fly with his wife.

I’m in no doubt that Anne will be missing her husband by her side and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Princess Anne, 74, visited Cape Town as she undertook a series of visits. During the trip, Anne visited the South African Riding for the Disabled Association, the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation and The Royal Cape Sailing Academy.

But her husband wasn’t by her side and a body language expert has said Anne clearly “missed” him. The expert also detailed the similarities between Anne and Princess Kate.

Princess Anne ‘missed’ her husband on South Africa tour

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, body language expert Darren Stanton said: “I’m in no doubt that Anne will be missing her husband by her side and wishing him a speedy recovery.

“But the truth is her body language with Sir Timothy and without is virtually the same. Her husband is known to hang back and let her take the spotlight, and she has a natural confidence whether she’s by his side or on her own.”

He added: “That comes from years of doing royal duties and knowing how to speak to others with ease.”

Meanwhile, Darren also spoke about how Princess Anne compares to Kate, Princess of Wales, during royal visits and engagements.

He continued: “Although Anne always has security, they’re never in shot and she always appears to be in the moment and engaged with others.

“She often has her hands interlocked and her head tilted, which can be called ‘active listening’. She is genuinely interested in others and what they’re saying. Her attendance isn’t just for show.”

Darren added: “When she speaks to guests, she often bows down to be at their level and makes herself as small as possible to build rapport and not appear intimidating, which is something Kate Middleton often does too.”

He also gushed over Anne: “She’s been doing this her whole life, and she’s the consummate professional.”
