Donald Trump ‘hugely flattered’ by royal family

It’s recently been reported that the UK government is keen to use the royal family to strengthen the country’s bond with the US now Trump is in charge.

The president, 78, is a big fan of the royal family. He is also reportedly “hugely flattered” by attention from royalty.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond spoke to the Mirror recently about how the government would be “crazy” to ignore the power the royals have to improve relations with Trump.

William has already gone down well with the president, but Trump would probably now hope for a visit by the king.

“Soft power is one of the great strengths of the monarchy. It’s what they are particularly good at: treading a delicate diplomatic tightrope without the complication of being involved in the political arena,” Bond told the publication recently.

The royal expert then continued.

“Donald Trump is a man who appears to be hugely flattered by attention from royalty. So the government would be crazy to ignore the asset they have,” she said.

Donald Trump ‘wants meeting’ with King Charles

Jennie then went on to discuss how William’s previous meeting with the President went down well.

William met Trump during a visit to Paris in November. They were there for a ceremony to celebrate the re-opening of the Notre Dame Cathedral.

“William has already gone down well with the president, but Trump would probably now hope for a visit by the king,” Bond then added.

Next year is a big year for the US – and could be the perfect time for a royal visit.

2026 will see America celebrate 250 years since its independence. It’ll also see the Football World Cup partially take place in the US, with the final set to take place in New Jersey.

Bond stated that 2026 would be an “obvious opportunity” for a royal visit.

King Charles’ personal message to Donald Trump

Last week, following Donald Trump’s inauguration, Buckingham Palace revealed that the king had sent the new president a congratulatory message.

The palace confirmed that the message was handwritten and congratulated Trump on his inauguration.

Trump had previously praised King Charles, branding him a “really wonderful guy”. He was also very complimentary of the late queen, saying that they had an “automatic chemistry”.

With this knowledge in mind, reports claim that Prime Minister Keir Starmer could utilise the royals to stay on the US’ good side.

“Obviously we do need to deploy the royals. The poor old royal family is going to be spending a lot of time with Trump in the future I suppose,” one Labour MP allegedly told I News.
