Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcome second baby and share beautiful name
Their eldest daughter, Sienna, is three years oldPrincess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli have announced the birth of their second baby.
The couple welcomed their new bundle of joy on January 22.
Buckingham Palace announced the joyful news regarding Beatrice’s second pregnancy in October 2024. Beatrice, 36, and her husband, 41, already have a three-year-old daughter named Sienna.
Now they have welcomed another little girl – who is 11th in line to the throne – and shared her cute name.

Alongside a cute picture of the new bundle of joy with her face covered, the post read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm.
“The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces. The king and queen, and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”
We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect.
Meanwhile, it added: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
“Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi gushes over ‘tiny’ daughter
Edoardo gushed on Instagram: “Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.
“We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.
“A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time.”
Meaning behind Princess Beatrice baby name
The little girl’s middle name seems to be a nod to Beatrice’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Meanwhile, according to sources online, the name Athena means “Goddess of Wisdom”. It can also mean “wise” and “intelligent”.
Royal fans have gushed over the new arrival. One person said: “Many congratulations and such a beautiful name.”
Meanwhile, another wrote: “Welcome to the world Athena, congrats to the happy parents.”
In addition, a third added: “How wonderful. Gorgeous baby and lovely name!”
Beatrice and Edoardo branded ‘extraordinary’ parents
British property developer Edoardo is also dad to his son Wolfie from a previous relationship. Edoardo’s stepfather, David Williams-Ellis, couldn’t stop singing praises of his stepson while speaking in November 2023.
“As a father, it’s family first for Edoardo and he’s an amazing father to both his children. I’ve seen it first-hand from a really good angle,” he told HELLO!.
“He’s brilliant with his children and he adores them naturally like any father. He gives them a lot of time and a lot of patience, and I think with his busy life, it’s probably quite difficult sometimes to do that.”
David called both Beatrice and his stepson “extraordinary with their children,” giving their “time” and “energy” while being extremely patient.
The palace announced Beatrice’s second pregnancy in October. At the time, the palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna.
“His Majesty the king has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
