Princess Beatrice and younger sister Princess Eugenie could end up facing an inheritance blow amid claims they may be asked to ‘step up’ within the monarchy.

Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 34, are the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. They’re the granddaughters of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

But their roles within the royal family are often speculated on. Many wonder what they do behind the scenes as well as their inheritance.

Let’s take a look.

Sisters may ‘step up’ within the royal family

New reports claimed that Princess Beatrice and Eugenie may face calls to step up.

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, the sisters could find themselves with a bigger role within the monarchy.

She told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show: “We don’t have Harry and Meghan over here, who would have been doing so much of the work. The Duke of York has been ostracised and stripped of his royal duties.

“We’ve got the Waleses. But you know, with the princess having gone through her own health journey, her workload has been reduced over the past year.

“So there’s got to be a plan B. We may have to look at something different. I think the king’s whole idea of a slimmed down monarchy is something that is having to be readdressed because of circumstances within the royal family.”

So, what do Beatrice and Eugenie currently do behind the scenes? And do they have inheritance?

Princess Beatrice and Eugenie inheritance from the Queen Mother

According to reports, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie could inherit a share of millions bequeathed by the late Queen Mother when they turn 40.

The Queen Mother reportedly set up a Trust Fund in 1994 of £19 million, to benefit her great-grandchildren.

In 2002, after the Queen Mother’s death, The Guardian reported: “Of the trust fund, William and Harry are likely to share about £6m at the age of 21. The bulk going to the younger son apparently to compensate for not becoming sovereign – and a further £8m when they reach 40.

“Princess Anne’s children Zara and Peter Phillips and Prince Andrew’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, together with Princess Margaret’s children, Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto, will also receive bequests running into several millions each.”

Elsewhere, when Prince Andrew and Sarah’s marriage came to an end in the late 90s, a trust was reportedly set up for the Fergie and her daughters.

£1.4million reportedly went into the trust for Beatrice and Eugenie at the time.

Beatrice and Eugenie could face inheritance blow over Royal Lodge

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie could inherit 30-room Royal Lodge and a two-bedroom apartment in Belgravia from their parents Andrew and Sarah.

However, King Charles has reportedly requested that the Duke of York move out of Royal Lodge. The king has also reportedly cut off Andrew financially. Andrew stepped back from royal duties in 2019 following sexual assault allegations against him. He denied the accusations and settled a civil case out of court with his accuser Virginia Giuffre in 2022.

Reports claim that Andrew could face limitations when it comes to passing down the residence without special permissions.

Behind the scenes away from royal ties

So, what do Beatrice and Eugenie do behind the scenes? Neither of them are working royals. Therefore they do not receive funding through the sovereign grant – a fund from the government to pay for the royal family’s running costs.

Princess Beatrice works as the Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti. Meanwhile, Eugenie is a director at Mayfair art gallery Hauser & Wirth.

Meanwhile, the sisters both serve as patrons to some nonprofits and have become committed philanthropists over the years.
