How Prince William and Kate will 'avoid' Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis being royal 'spares' like uncle Prince Harry
Prince George is second in line to the throneAs Prince Harry has been open about feeling like the ‘spare’, it seems Princess Kate and Prince William are doing everything in their power to make sure their youngest children don’t feel like that.
Following with royal tradition, someday their eldest child Prince George, 11, will become king. His brother and sister will unlikely see the throne. But now, the Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly changing the way they raise them.
An expert has suggested that they have realised it is key that Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, get as much attention as George, a report claims.
It’s believed they are taking a break from royal tradition to champion a “first among equals” approach that ensures all of their kids will be treated fairly.

Prince William and Kate ‘changing the way their children are raised’
After the way his relationship with Prince Harry turned over the recent years, it makes sense that Prince William would be worried about his own kids’ relationships. According to an expert, he’s making it a priority.
Harry has often referred to himself as the “spare” as his older brother William is destined to be king one day. He even titled his 2023 tell-all memoir, Spare. Harry has also expressed his own “worries” over his niece Charlotte and nephew Louis following the same royal fate as him.
But the way things are going, Charlotte and Louis may have major roles in the future.
However, royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine that William, 42, and Kate, 43, have changed their approach to keep the children close.

He said: “Obviously he [George] is the most important one. But I think William and Kate see George as primus inter pares – first among equals.”
Phil believes this new approach marks the beginning of a new era for the future working royals.
Phil continued: “Yes, he is the future king. But the way things are going, Charlotte and Louis may have major roles in the future. Certainly the royal family will need them, as they are getting thin on the ground.”
That was in reference to Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, leaving their royal duties in 2020 for a life in America.
Since then Harry and the rest of his family have been at odds thanks to the countless interviews, books and documentary deals he has made, telling his side of the story. Most famously, he released a book titled Spare, as that’s reportedly how he felt beside William.

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ‘will support each other’
Phil explained further: “Prince Harry always felt like ‘The Spare’ but perhaps that won’t happen with Charlotte and Louis as there are two of them. And they will support each other, as well as George. Kate has always been close to her siblings. And she wants her children to share that same bond.”
As Prince George hits teenage years in 2026, there is a big decision on what school to send him to. It looks like there is a possibility Kate and William will break tradition for their kids. Reportedly, the mum-of-three is looking at co-ed options for George, which will keep him and his siblings together.
Phil admitted this would “make sense,” not just for “looking after each other” but also “security reasons”. He explained, having three at the same school would make it “easier to protect” all of them.

Prince George ‘uncomfortable’ in spotlight
The move for equality comes as royal insiders reveal Prince George doesn’t actually seem completely comfortable with being in the public eye.
The Times royal editor Roya Nikkhah made the comments during an appearance on the podcast, The Royals with Roya and Kate.
She said: “I have been at the rugby with him. And he’s still not totally comfortable in front of the cameras and in front of the media. I don’t blame him. He’s got a lifetime of it ahead of him.”
Perhaps Prince William and Kate are aware of this, so it would be easier if he had his siblings around.
And with what happened between William and Harry, the parents are doing everything they can to avoid history repeating itself.
