Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are probably “desperate” for their dad Prince Andrew to “have a change in his life,” a royal commentator has said.

The Duke of York, 64, has faced much scandal in recent years and stepped back from his royal duties in late 2019. It came after he was accused of sexual assault – allegations he’s always denied.

Andrew now lives a quiet life at Royal Lodge in Windsor. But it seems his daughters may want change for him…

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie want ‘change’ for Prince Andrew

Speaking on The Sun‘s Royal Exclusive Show, royal photographer and expert Arthur Edwards said: “I think they would love their father still as he’s been very kind to them and good to them.

“There would be no reason why they wouldn’t. They would probably be like Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife – probably desperate for him to have a change in his life but it’s not going to happen.”

Despite all the scandal against Andrew, Arthur added of Eugenie and Beatrice: “I’m sure they still love their father and he will be there for pictures with the grandchildren [and] for the baptism and the christening. He’s their father and I think they still love him.”

According to reports, Andrew’s days are now pretty quiet as the duke spends a large portion of his time at his Royal Lodge home.

As well as being a father, Andrew is also a grandfather to Beatrice and Eugenie’s children. Princess Beatrice is mum to daughters Sienna, three, and Athena, who was born in January 2025.

They would probably be like Sarah Ferguson – desperate for him to have a change in his life but it’s not going to happen.

Meanwhile, Eugenie has sons August, who turned four on February 9, and Ernest, one.

Royal expert and former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond recently discussed Andrew’s new life away from duties, saying being a grandfather might be his “new main role”.

Prince Andrew’s ‘new role’ within royal family is being ‘a doting grandfather’

Jennie told the Mirror: “I think family has become ever more important for the beleaguered Prince Andrew. Perhaps one of his main roles in life these days is to be a doting grandad.”

Jennie said that Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson will also be overjoyed by Athena’s new arrival. She added: “And I’m sure that Fergie will be just as besotted as little Athena’s parents clearly are.”

Sarah herself has previously spoken about what Andrew is like as a grandfather. Speaking on ITV daytime show Lorraine, Fergie said: “I think Prince Andrew is such a good man, he’s a thoroughly good man, he’s a very gentle man, he’s a really good father.

“We did co-parent very well, hence the reason why the girls are very solid and [have their] feet on the ground. But now, as a grandfather, he’s really good.”
