Recent rumours about Kate, Princess of Wales’ outfits have been clarified by Kensington Palace.

It was recently claimed that Kate, 43, won’t have her outfits detailed by the palace going forward.

The reported decision came after claims that the Princess of Wales had grown “frustrated” with the public caring more about her outfits than her work.

Kensington Palace clarify rumours on Princess Kate outfits

Kate has become a style icon over the years thanks to her stunning outfits, with anything she heads out in gushed over and analysed by royal fans.

But, earlier this month, reports claimed that Kensington Palace apparently wouldn’t be revealing details about the princess’ outfits. A source claimed this was because Kate wanted the “focus to be on important issues” like her work.

But now, Kensington Palace has issued a new statement on the reports to clarify the rumours. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding the Princess of Wales’s clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits.

“To clarify, the comments that appeared in the article were from me, not the Princess of Wales. The comments that were reported should not be directly attributed to the Princess of Wales.”

Kensington Palace ‘making no change’ to approach over Kate’s clothing

They added: “To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’ clothing.”

The claims came after Kate had reportedly grown frustrated with the focus being on her outfits rather than her important work.

To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’s clothing.

In 2022, an insider told The Sunday Times: “When she goes to the Bond premiere or is at Trooping the Colour, of course she puts on the ‘uniform’ of the role. But what was enormously frustrating and difficult for her, especially in the early days, was she was going out and doing the work she was interested in and was hugely important to her, and people just talked about what she was wearing.”

This month, a new source spoke about the reported move by the palace.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the source said: “There is an absolute feeling that it [the public work] is not about what the princess is wearing. She wants the focus to be on the really important issues – the people and the causes she is spotlighting.”

The source then continued.

“There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that. But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it’s about the substance,” they said.
