The couple, who first met back in 2001 at university, are now happily married with three children and are the future king and queen.

Early days of Prince William and Kate’s love story
In 2001, a young Prince William and Kate met at St Andrews University in Scotland and let’s just say the rest is history.
During their uni days, the pair struck up a romance after being friends for some time. Things were good for a few years, but in early 2007, reports claimed that the couple had briefly split.
In his and Kate Middleton’s 2010 engagement interview, Prince William explained the split: “We were both very young. We were both finding ourselves and such and being different characters and such.”
Kate added at the time: “I at the time wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person.
“You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized — I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger — and I really valued that time for me, as well.”
However, the couple didn’t confirm when the split happened.

How young Prince William and Kate ‘survived long-distance’
According to reports, William and Kate were long-distance for a part of their romance.
At the time of the reports claiming their split in early 2007, it was speculated that this caused pressure for the couple.
While Prince William spent five months at an army camp in Dorset in 2007, Kate had remained in London. At the time, reports speculated whether the distance caused the couple to part ways.
However, just months after their split, the pair reportedly rekindled their romance.
Prince William continued his career in the military as graduated as a pilot.
But when William was posted to RAF Valley in Anglesey, Wales, in 2010, Kate reportedly put her foot down as she wasn’t keen on doing long-distance.

According to royal author Robert Jobson in his 2024 book Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, the pair found a four-bedroom farmhouse near his base where they could live together to avoid long-distance.
In 2010, Prince William popped the question to Kate during a trip to Kenya. The couple went on to marry at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.
