Queen Camilla hosted a reception to celebrate the talented actors, staff and supporters behind the National Theatre this week and James Corden was one of the guests.

But the actor’s behaviour towards the queen didn’t go down well with some royal fans as a video was shared to the royal family’s social media pages.

The star-studded reception saw the likes of James, Andrew Garfield and Cate Blanchett attend.

In a clip shared to the royal family’s Instagram account, Queen Camilla, 77, was seen greeting the actors and actresses at Buckingham Palace.

At the start of the montage of clips, Gavin & Stacey actor James, 46, was seen laughing and putting his hand on Camilla’s arm as they shared a conversation.

The queen also enjoyed chats with other stars, including Sharon D Clarke – who was in costume as Lady Bracknell from The Importance of Being Earnest.

Sharon was also seen putting a comforting hand on the royal.

But the stars’ behaviour hasn’t gone down well with royal fans, who insisted it’s against ‘protocol’.

James Corden slammed for ‘touching’ Camilla at palace reception

One person commented: “James Corden [touching] the queen like they’re best friends.”

Another wrote: “It’s very disrespectful for people to lay their hands on the queen consort who I think did very well and kept her dignified composure throughout.”

Someone else added: “Harry’s BFF James Corden acting like he is above royal protocol.”

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “Are we encouraging people to put their hands on the royal family now?”

However, another person replied: “No, but they felt comfortable enough that they instinctively did. Tells that they very much liked Queen Camilla.”

Another agreed: “I think it’s quite a compliment for Queen Camilla when they instinctively do so.

“It tells us that she makes them laugh and makes them feel comfortable enough to have an instinctive reaction, even when meeting a royal.”

James Corden’s friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Former US talk show host James shares ties with the royal family and shared a friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

James previously interviewed Harry in 2021 on his US show – the Late Late Show with James Corden. The pair toured LA together and even visited the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air house.

He also attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding at St George’s Chapel in May 2018.

But Harry and James’ friendship seems to date back to 2011. At the time, Harry and football legend David Beckham organised a pre-Christmas party for friends at an exclusive London club.

However, according to reports, a joke made by Prince Harry didn’t sit well with James. A source claimed: “James was furious. It quickly emerged that Harry had told a joke, and James definitely did not find it funny. It fell to David to smooth things over.”
