Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie ‘jet off on holiday’

Prince Edward, 60, and Sophie, 60, have been spotted on a skiing holiday in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Their 17-year-old son, James, Earl of Wessex, is with them – however, their daughter Lady Louise, 21, isn’t.

However, HELLO! reports the reason behind Lady Louise’s absence isn’t due to any new royal family feud.

The young royal is currently studying at university at St. Andrews in Scotland.

Meanwhile, it’s half-term for James, who is currently studying for his A-levels. This means he’s free to jet off abroad on holiday!

Edward and Sophie’s trip abroad comes not long after they returned from a royal engagement in Nepal. During their time there, Edward engaged with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award participants.

Sophie, meanwhile, participated in discussions about supporting survivors of sexual exploitation, gender-based violence, and trafficking.

Lady Louise Windsor ‘keen’ on army career

Last month, it was reported that Lady Louise is keen on following in the late queen’s footsteps by having a career in the army.

As part of her extracurricular activities at the University of St Andrews, Louise has joined the University Officer Training Corps (UOTC).

The young royal will reportedly be undertaking Reserve Officer modules designed to fit around her degree.

Louise has loved every minute of being a member of the officer cadets at university.

These modules will teach her everything, from how to lead others in stressful situations to how to wear a uniform properly.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Louise has loved every minute of being a member of the officer cadets at university. She’s received basic Army officer training and is more determined than ever to serve King and country in the future.

“She fitted the officer training corps around her studies and has benefited hugely from the skills that she’s been taught.”

William has big plans for the Edinburghs

It’s been reported in recent months that Prince William has some big plans for Edward and family once he becomes king.

The Prince of Wales will reportedly “lean heavily” on his aunt and uncle when he takes to the throne.

Speaking to The Sunday Times in January, royal commentator Jennie Bond gushed over Sophie and Edward.

“By any measure, Sophie has proved herself to be a major asset to the royal family, and William would be foolish to ignore the value she brings,” Bond said.

“She is dignified and elegant, and yet still the same Sophie she was when she met Edward: unpretentious, generous and with a natural charm. She has worked below the radar for many years, neither expecting nor receiving the publicity she deserves. Recently though, with the slimmed down royal family, the public have come to recognise how important the duchess is to the work of the monarchy,” she continued.

“King William will be leaning heavily on both Sophie and Edward to support the monarchy in all it does in the future.”
