Meghan Markle’s friend Mindy Kaling reveals what it was like filming her Netflix show: ’She knew I needed a break’
Mindy and Meghan make a tea party for children in one episodeThe brand new Meghan Markle show, With Love, Meghan, is set to premiere on Netflix in just under two weeks.
The lifestyle show features Meghan, alongside some of her friends, doing different activities, including cooking, gardening and sharing hosting tips.
And in each episode, Meghan won’t be alone as she’ll be alongside some of her famous friends.
Due to the recent LA wildfires, the duchess’ Netflix show was pushed back and many wondered if it would ever actually get to air. But as Meghan, 43, begins another rebrand of her business, it looks locked in to premiere on March 4.
Mindy Kaling on filming with Meghan Markle on new Netflix show
One of those friends she films with is Hollywood star Mindy Kaling, who recently opened up to TIME magazine about what the experience was like. She also explained how filming with Meghan helped her in her life.
Mindy took the time to praise Meghan‘s generosity for helping her through things in her personal life.
She called Meghan a “very generous woman”.
Not only was it a fun experience, but also an educational one. The duchess taught her Hollywood pal a lot of tips and tricks that she didn’t know before.

When asked how her appearance came about, Mindy explained: “I was on maternity leave with my daughter in March and April. And Meghan texted me that she was doing a show where she was going to cook for her friends.”
For Mindy the main reason she eagerly agreed to it was because she “wanted to get taken care of” in that time of her leave. And so she was immediately up for a “fun maternity leave field trip”.
As for what the experience filming together was actually like, Mindy admitted she “left with a basket of fresh produce and homemade jam and hot sauce”.
She added that Meghan “knew I needed a break”.
What is With Love, Meghan on Netflix about?
Each episode focuses on different things, and for Mindy, that was a children’s tea party.
Mindy revealed: “The theme was throwing a party for children. I love cooking. But I’m not really good at entertaining. I don’t know anything about how you are not supposed to use overhead lighting when people come over. You are supposed to use little lamps. And Meghan just knows how to do that stuff.”
For Mindy, she was used to “going to the party supply store” and explains neither she or Meghan judge the way someone chooses to host. But she enjoyed learning “simple ways” of throwing a party.
Focusing on the negative attention that Meghan gets, especially recently for having an Instagram account, Mindy doesn’t feel like it is a fair summary of her friend.
She said: “I think a misconception about Meghan is that she is in any way fussy. Or has expectations of fanciness. She is really a down-to-earth person who knows a lot of fun tricks to make entertaining and cooking easier.”
With Love, Meghan premieres on Netflix on March 4.
