Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s children, Archie and Lilibet, have been kept out of the limelight most of their lives.

But Meghan has began to share more glimpses at their young children, especially now that she has Instagram.

But that doesn’t mean Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, haven’t spoken about them over the years. On numerous occasions the pair have individually given away little details about their kids.

And we’ve got the round-up of everything that has been said over the years.

What Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have said about their children Archie and Lilibet

When introducing baby Prince Archie to the world on May 6, 2019, Meghan revealed he was “really calm” and had the “sweetest temperament”.

Then, in 2022, the mum-of-two revealed she almost called him something else entirely.

Speaking to a mum, Mandy,  who was taking part of the Invictus Games, Meghan revealed the news.

Another competitor of the games told PA: “Meghan was like, ‘Harrison, that’s Archie’s middle name’. Then they were having a chat because Meghan and Harry couldn’t decide between Archie and Harrison for the first name.”

Princess Diana tributes

In his mental health docuseries The Me You Can’t See on Apple TV, Prince Harry revealed that Archie’s nursery featured tributes to his mum, Princess Diana.

He explained that there is a picture of Archie’s grandmother hanging on the wall. And one of his first words was “grandma”, after “mama”, “papa” and “crocodile”.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s bond

Prince Archie was only two years old when Princess Lilibet was born – and it seems they had a close relationship from the very beginning.

Speaking on the Ellen DeGeneres show in 2023, Meghan admitted Archie “loves being a big brother”.

But the Duchess of Sussex did explain it took time for him to get used to another child being around. She said: “Everyone talks about what it’s like for the second child. But nobody talks about the adjustment for the first child when the second comes along.”

Prince Harry on his children Archie and Lilibet’s questions

Earlier this month, Harry and Meghan made their loved-up appearance at the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada.

Harry set up the Invictus Games in 2014. The games is a multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel.

And Harry explained to People Magazine that Archie has a very big interest in hearing the veterans’ stories.

He said: “It’s a very interesting conversation to have with your kids. To explain why that person is missing a leg, why that person is missing an arm. Why they look the way they do. It’s challenging. But so important.

“Our kids are still so young. But Archie is asking those questions. And as any parent knows, once you open that door, and those questions are asked – more doors start opening.”

Lilibet’s special name meaning

Princess Lilibet was born on June 4 2021 in California. And Harry and Meghan chose the name as a nod to Queen Elizabeth II.

Lilibet was the private nickname of the late queen, which was initially given to her when she was a child. This was because she found it difficult to pronounce Elizabeth.

Princess Lilibet ‘found her voice’ at three

In August 2024, Meghan spoke at an Afro Women and Power event in Colombia. She revealed that Lilibet had started speaking out – at three years old.

She said: “Part of the modelling that I certainly try to do as a mother is to encourage our daughter, who at three, has found her voice.

“And we are so proud of her for that because that is how we create the conditions where there is a ripple effect for other young girls.”

Lilibet takes after Meghan with her ‘thick hair’

Prince Harry revealed last October that Lilibet takes after her mum in one particular thing – her hairstyle.

Hello! Magazine’s cheif content officer Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon explained what Harry had said during a children’s charity event.

She explained: “Archie and Lili have been blessed with their mother’s thick hair, he told us. He marvelled that it won’t be long until Lili can sit on hers.”

This isn’t the first time he has spoken about his hair genes in the family.

During an interview with The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he explained: “The Spencer gene is very, very strong. I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship that should this go the distance and we have kids that there is no way my ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes. But I was wrong!”
