Why Princess Eugenie moved to Portugal with husband and children
Due to Jack’s work commitment with property tycoon Mike Meldman, who is managing a 300-home development in the Algarve, he, Eugenie and their kids made the move to Portugal.

Princess Eugenie gushes over privacy in Portugal
In 2023, Eugenie opened up about the privacy she can have whilst living in Portugal.
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, the princess said: “This is why Portugal is the dream because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind. Not care. No one cares.”
Meanwhile, in 2024, Princess Eugenie gave a glimpse into how she, Jack and their children enjoy life in sunny Portugal.
Speaking to HELLO!, Eugenie said: “They love swimming. The sea in Portugal’s a little bit rougher. So we’ve got our feet in, but Augie is a fish. He literally loves it and we have whales and dolphins all across the walls.
“We’ve got a book called The World’s Wildest Waters, which is backed by Blue Marine Foundation – I see it every morning when Augie’s eating breakfast, and he’s like, ‘Mama!’ and then we go through it.”

Eugenie and Jack’s house in the UK
Whilst in the UK, Eugenie and Jack live in Ivy Cottage – a house in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Despite the perks of living in Portugal, it seems Eugenie’s heart is still in the UK.
According to reports last year, Eugenie is “adamant” she wants to return to the UK. A source told the Express: “Eugenie is adamant that she wants to head back to the UK on a more permanent basis and use the villa in Portugal as a holiday home.”
This is why Portugal is the dream because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind.
They added: “They are very close to their families and all like spending lots of quality time together with the children. Jack’s success has given them the freedom to fly back and forth between two countries and provide the boys with a loving and close-knit family unit.”
