King Charles’ bodyguard has sparked questions among royal fans thanks to a resurfaced video recently.

A video on TikTok this week has got people all asking the same question – does King Charles‘ security guard have fake hands? Umm…

King Charles’ bodyguard raises suspicions in resurfaced video

A new TikTok video of the king on a royal engagement has got royal fans talking recently. King Charles, 76, had stepped out with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Deputy PM Angela Rayner earlier this month.

In the brief clip, the king can be seen greeting crowds. However, it isn’t the king that’s got people’s attention – it’s his security detail, who are always close behind him.

Or, to be more specific, his security guard’s hands.

In the clips, the king’s security guard’s hands do not move at all. They look to be almost frozen in place.

This has led to some people wondering whether the security guard’s hands are even real. Some speculated that his real hands are on guns or a weapon inside his coat pockets. This means that they can be whipped out and used at a moment’s notice.

“His real hand is under his jacket on a gun,” one viewer speculated.

“His real arm is holding a firearm so he can react very fast,” another speculated.

However, others insisted they could see the bodyguard’s hands move slightly. One person said: “His fingers are moving.”

Another commented: “The fingers did move a little bit.”

King Charles’ security don’t use ‘fake hands’

However, back in September 2022, a former bodyguard debunked theories claiming that the monarch’s security guards use fake hands.

At the time, another video of King Charles alongside his security team was circulating on social media which suggested the same theory.

Speaking to the Metro at the time, Will Geddes, who worked as a security guard for 30 years, said that although the use of fake hands may be a tactic used in the US, it’s not one used in the UK.

It is just unnecessary and there are just so many issues which are potentially complicated by having fake hands.

“They definitely aren’t fake hands; I can understand why some people might have thought they were because of what looks like an incredibly tight grip but they definitely aren’t,” he said.

“It isn’t a tactic that is used at all in the UK, there might be all sorts of other tricks and stunts that security officers use to make sure high-profile individuals are kept safe, but this wouldn’t be one of them,” he then added.

Will then went on to say: “It is just unnecessary and there are just so many issues which are potentially complicated by having fake hands.”

He added that it would slow officers down if anything.

King Charles’ ‘irritation with staff’

On the subject of Charles and his staff, the king reportedly has “bursts of irritation” with those employed. These claims were made in a new book.

Speaking in royal author Tom Quinn’s new book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, a source said: “Charles and Camilla do treat their staff well. But you always feel that they would no more fly without an airplane than invite you to have tea with them.

“And Charles does have little bursts of irritation with his staff. Perhaps he hasn’t been given exactly the right teacup, perfectly polished shoes, and toothpaste neatly squeezed on to his toothbrush in exactly the way he likes it. He loses his temper in a split second but usually quickly regrets it.”

Royal Insider contacted reps for Buckingham Palace on this story.
