It seems Prince Harry is embracing life in the US nearly five years after relocating to California with wife Meghan Markle and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

During a recent conversation at the 2025 Invictus Games, former New Zealand rugby star Richie McCaw shared an insight into Harry’s everyday life in America, revealing that the Duke of Sussex is enjoying a more low-key, family-focused lifestyle.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Richie recalled chatting with Harry at the Invictus Games in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, on February 14. When asked how things were going, Harry kept it simple apparently.

“I said, ‘How things go? And he goes, ‘Life’s going on pretty good,'” Richie shared.

Richie said that one particular comment from Harry stood out.

“He was like, ‘Yeah, I can drop the kids off at school… without any issue.’ And hey, we all take that for granted, don’t we?”

The rugby legend added: “But tough situation to be in… however you look at it.”

Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, moved to the US in 2020, after stepping back from royal duties in the UK.

Their new home offers privacy and a more relaxed lifestyle, allowing them to focus on raising their young children away from the public glare of royal life.

Richie, a former All Blacks captain, shared a selfie with Harry on Instagram from the wheelchair rugby event at the games.

“Great to be in Vancouver supporting the wheelchair rugby at the Invictus Games this afternoon @isps_handa,” he captioned the post.

Reflecting on their meeting, Richie admitted he was surprised by the reaction to the now-viral image.

He said he “didn’t think a selfie like that would get so much attention”.

Prince Harry reflects on the Invictus Games journey

Speaking separately to Us Weekly, Prince Harry looked back on the past decade since founding the Invictus Games in 2014.

The games provide a platform for injured and wounded military service personnel to showcase resilience through sports.

“Today, I have the benefit of hindsight and experience, but I wouldn’t change any of it,” Harry shared. “Except still wishing there were no need for the Invictus Games.”

Harry also credited Meghan for her unwavering support, highlighting her longtime involvement in the tournament.

He added: “[Meghan] has been part of this community since shortly after the Orlando Games in 2016 and has loved every minute of it. There are so many special memories.”

While Meghan joined Harry at the 2025 games for a couple of days, she later returned home to California to be with Archie and Lilibet.

In a sweet Valentine’s Day tribute to Harry, she wrote on Instagram: “Back home taking care of our babies and missing my Valentine as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families.”
