Meghan Markle appears to have taken a subtle dig at the royal family in the final episode of her new Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, delivered an emotional toast during a brunch gathering with Prince Harry, her mother Doria Ragland, and close friends, marking the end of the eight-part series.

“I just want to raise a glass to you guys,” Meghan said to her guests. “This feels like a new chapter that I’m so excited that I’m able to share, and I’ve been able to learn from all of you. So I just thank you for all the love and support.”

She then hinted at feeling stifled in the past.

The duchess said: “All of that is part of that creativity that I’ve missed so much. So thank you for loving me so much and celebrating with me.”

She previously claimed that royal aides restricted her ability to express herself freely, so was this a subtle dig at her royal life?

All of that is part of that creativity that I’ve missed so much.

In another moment from the series, Meghan appeared to draw parallels between her own struggles and the Japanese art of Kintsugi.

Kintsugi involves repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer to highlight its fractures rather than conceal them.

In episode seven, Meghan discussed the symbolism of healing with Tatcha founder Vicky Tsai.

“You gave me this idea. I think it’s so meaningful that if you break something that is precious and valuable, it’s not broken,” she mused. “That that fracture, and you taught me this, that that fracture actually makes it more beautiful, that break makes it more beautiful.”

Meghan then suggested this applied to personal struggles.

“And I just think that it felt really symbolic of saying to anyone,” she said. “If you’ve been through something, you’re not broken. It can be fixed, it can be sealed and healed at the same time.”

Moments from With Love, Meghan on Netflix

In another moment that some have interpreted as a dig to her time in Britain, Meghan is heard saying while preparing a salad: “It tastes like home, and I’ve missed California.”

Similarly, in episode five, Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer appears to reference Meghan’s struggles.

“We’ve all been through a lot,” she says, before casting a meaningful glance at Meghan.

Meanwhile, With Love, Meghan comes at a crucial time for the Sussexes.

After the cancellation of Meghan’s Spotify podcast Archetypes and the shelving of her animated series, Pearl, the couple are struggling to prove their commercial viability.

Royal experts say this Netflix series could be a defining moment for Meghan’s brand. If successful, it could pave the way for future projects.

However, if it underperforms, it could put further strain on the couple’s partnership with the streaming giant.
