With Love, Meghan: Markle's Netflix show 'piggybacking' off of Pamela Anderson may work in her favour, says expert

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, has been out for almost 48 hours now – and although she was accused of copying Pamela Anderson’s aesthetic, it may not be a concern after all.

The Duchess of Sussex released eight episodes of her new series, where she gave tips on hosting, entertaining and cooking for friends and loved ones. She invited a host of celebrity friends, top chefs and people she admired to join her in the kitchen.

Now, an expert has given their take on what the comparisons to Baywatch star Pamela Anderson will do to Meghan Markle‘s image as she embarks on her new venture.

Meghan Markle Vs Pamela Anderson – they both win

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede spoke to Entertainment Daily about the two celebrities, and if it’d hurt their image.

He said although Meghan’s fame has a worldwide reach, and she “does create a circus” through the attention, no feud will arise from the accusations of the copycat show.

Nick explained: “If anything, the two piggybacking off each other will increase the eyeballs on them”.

There’s also no concerns over a feud boiling over as both Pamela and Meghan Markle release cooking shows.

He added: “I think they are very different and both pretty classy. They won’t want a war of words. The thing about cookery shows is that many of them are very similar in production and narrative, so I don’t think they will have any beef between them – pardon the pun!”

Eerie similarities

The accusations the two shows are similar came after fans recalled how the 57-year-old TV star announced her cooking show in October last year. This was three months before Meghan’s. The series also hit the streaming giant in February, a few weeks before the royal’s aired. However, Meghan’s was pushed back after the devastating LA wildfires, a choice she made.

Not only are the names similar, Cooking With Love against With Love, Meghan, but they’re about the love of food and making meals in your own kitchen, using homegrown ingredients.

The star guests ring a bell as well, with top chefs being invited to take part in different episodes to create meals for friends and family.

Another feud has deepened

Even if Pammy and Meg are likely to remain on good terms, the relationship the royal has with her sister hasn’t improved.

Meghan’s half sister Samantha Markle has spoken out and slammed her new cooking show.

She joined Dan Wootton on his Outspoken show and hit back at the comments the duchess made about her childhood in the series. In particular, taking issue with Meghan claiming she grew up eating TV dinners and takeaway food amid financial struggles.

Samantha accused the Netflix star: “It was dig after dig.

“She went to the best restaurants in Los Angeles. We all did. So that and rubbing the nickels together to get a Sizzler steak, fruit, and salad bar – it was just crazy. Totally fake, totally insulting. And it’s not hurtful anymore, it’s become a joke at this point. Nobody buys it.”
