'Rigid' Meghan Markle's true feelings towards Drew Barrymore in 'awkward' interview
It seems that Meghan was surprised by Drew's confident approach...
Meghan Markle has starred in the latest episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, where she is expected to open up about her marriage and parenting, all while promoting With Love, Meghan.
Meghan’s new Netflix show has made a splash and she has been catapulted back into the spotlight with all eyes on her as she returns to our screens.
However, it seems Meghan, 43, wasn’t prepared for just how intense being back in the public eye can be.

Speaking to Royal Insider on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert Darren Stanton has shed light on how Meghan really felt as she spoke to Drew Barrymore.
In a photo shared to promote the interview, Drew is seen hugging Meghan tightly. Meghan, meanwhile, smiles while keeping her hand in her pocket.
Commenting on the moment the pair embraced, Darren shared how Meghan was simply “shocked by the intensity of the interaction,” as her eyes tightened in surprise.
He explained: “Meghan was just not expecting it,” but notes that the Duchess of Sussex gradually warmed up as she settled into the interview.
They were clearly not on the same page and didn’t show any reciprocation of gestures.
Darren goes on to explain that despite the pair not being on the same page when it comes to touching, Meghan did eventually loosen up.

Body language expert weighs in on Meghan Markle’s behaviour with Drew Barrymore
He said: “In the first shot where Drew is hugging her, Drew is leant in towards Meghan and Meghan is very rigid. Drew appears to wrap herself around Meghan, who has her hands by her side. It is a pretty awkward hug. They were clearly not on the same page and didn’t show any reciprocation of gestures.
“Drew is very open with everyone but they don’t seem to have built a deep rapport just yet. Meghan was likely not expecting the interaction to be so tactile, which is why there was a sense of awkwardness. She seems shocked by the intensity of the interaction.”
It appears that Meghan displayed signs of shock during the interview. This highlights just how long it has been since she was so exposed in the limelight.

Darren continued: “Following the hug, the top half of Meghan’s face is smiling but the top half isn’t engaged with it, there are slight signs of shock – which is what we call a masking smile, a kind of default reaction.
“Her eyes have tightened, almost as though someone has made her jump. With a big surprise our eyes will widen. But often if something slightly unexpected happens our bodies will tighten and you can see that in her eyes. There is a very genuine smile from Drew, with crows feet and smile lines. But it’s clear Meghan wasn’t expecting her to be so open and tactile.
“I do think it took Meghan a little time to fully settle into the interview, but as their conversation continued, it was clear she became more comfortable. Meghan has a lot of passion when it comes to promoting her new project. And she truly seems happy to talk about it.”
Meghan’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show will air on March 6.
