Robert alleged that William, then 13, became “furious” with his mother Princess Diana when she confessed in her 1995 Panorama interview about her affair with ex-lover James Hewitt.
He wrote: “He had broken out in one of the notorious rages that would, from time to time, scar his teenage years and young adult life. All hell broke loose. He was furious… that she had spoken badly of his father, that she had mentioned Hewitt. He started shouting and crying and, when she tried to put her arms around him, he shoved her away.”
The author added: “The next day, William apologised to his mother for his bad temper, and presented her with a bunch of flowers. But Diana felt some irretrievable damage had been done.”
