The divide between the royal family and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remains firm after their exit from royal life.

Buckingham Palace sources have allegedly revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “almost never discussed” within royal circles.

Queen Camilla’s ‘stance’ on Prince Harry after exit from royal family

According to insiders, Queen Camilla has played a key role in the decision to distance the royals from the Sussexes.

This comes after Harry’s scathing remarks about her in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

In the book, Harry labelled Camilla as “dangerous” and accused her of playing “the long game, a campaign aimed at marriage and eventually the Crown”.

He further claimed that both he and Prince William had urged their father, now King Charles, not to marry her.

However, Camilla appears unfazed by the Duke of Sussex’s criticisms. A source claims the couple are “almost never” discussed within the family either.

“Far more thought and hiatus is stirred up in the media around what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are or aren’t doing on any given day than was ever a fixation at the palace,” a royal source told Newsweek. “Where it’s almost never discussed.”

While Harry has made several trips back to the UK in the past year, he has not met with King Charles.

Sources suggest this is largely due to Camilla’s concerns for her husband’s health as he continues cancer treatment.

“She has been the principal voice urging Charles to slow down and take things easy,” the source continued. “The last thing she wants him to do is to get stressed out over a meeting with Harry.”

The queen’s influence reportedly extends beyond Charles. She is also keenly aware of Prince William’s frustrations with his younger brother.

Camilla is reportedly “concerned” about how a meeting could affect William.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s exit from senior royal roles

While Harry and Meghan remain firmly on the outside of royal life, they have built a new network of friends and connections in the US.

Since stepping down as senior royals in early 2020, the couple have carved out a high-profile presence in Hollywood and the media, securing multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify, launching Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever, and attending high-profile events with Hollywood A-listers.

Despite their global influence, the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family shows no signs of healing anytime soon.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Meghan opened up about her life in Montecito.

“I have a couple of girlfriends up here. These are stay-at-home mums and working women with normal jobs, not in the public eye,” she shared. “We went from just connecting through our kids to having girls’ nights out or doing Pilates together.”

The duchess emphasised the importance of fitness classes and staying active as a way to feel connected and at home in her community.

Recalling a recent workout session where attendees were encouraged to fist bump their neighbours, Meghan enthusiastically gushed: “I mean, that’s part of how you connect. I love it. It’s the best. I had missed it. It’s awesome.”
