What Prince Harry has said about Queen Camilla in his memoir Spare
In his 2023 memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex detailed his feelings towards Camilla – especially when she and Charles began dating.
In his book, Harry wrote about Charles marrying Camilla: “Despite Willy [Prince William] and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings.
The boys’ nicknames for her included Lady Macbeth, Cruella de Vil and the Witch of the West.
“We recognised that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved.”
He added: “I had complex feelings about gaining a step parent who, I believed, had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar. In a funny way I even wanted Camilla to be happy. Maybe she’d be less dangerous if she was happy?”

Queen ‘hurt’ over Harry’s comments in Spare
In 2023, a friend of Queen Camilla claimed that she felt “hurt” over Harry’s comments about her in his book.
Fiona, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, told The Sunday Times: “Of course it bothers her, of course it hurts. But she doesn’t let it get to her.
“Her philosophy is always, ‘Don’t make a thing of it and it will settle down – least said, soonest mended.'”

He replied: “We haven’t spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences. So when I see her, we’re perfectly pleasant with each other. She’s my stepmother.
“I don’t look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution, and has done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake.”
