Prince William sent a heartfelt and cheeky birthday message to Dame Mary Berry via the One Show as the beloved baker marks her milestone 90th birthday today.
In a personal video message recorded for a special episode titled The One Show: Dame Mary Berry, A Celebration at 90, the Prince of Wales paid tribute to the culinary icon, while also slipping in a light-hearted joke referencing her famously high baking standards.

“Hi Mary. I want to wish you a very happy 90th birthday,” William began warmly. “You are a true national treasure and we’ve loved working with you over the years.”
Then, with a twinkle in his eye, the future king added a playful jab: “Have a fantastic day today. I dread to think who’s cooking your cake and the criticism they might get, but good luck and I hope it goes really well!”
The clip was teased earlier on BBC Radio 2’s Scott Mills Show. The One Show presenter Alex Jones previewed the royal’s surprise appearance. The full programme celebrating Berry’s illustrious career will air on The One Show this evening.
Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, have enjoyed a warm relationship with Dame Mary over the years.
The trio notably teamed up for the BBC’s A Berry Royal Christmas special in 2019. The special showcased them visiting charities and community groups across the UK.

During the special, Princess Kate fondly shared just how influential Berry’s presence is in their household – especially with their youngest child, Prince Louis.
“One of Louis’s first words was ‘Mary’,” the Princess revealed. “Because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf.
Children are really fascinated by faces. Your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say, ‘That’s Mary Berry.'”
Kate went on to explain how Berry’s recipes are frequently used at home – particularly when it comes to making homemade pizza.
“Yes, I really enjoy it,” she also said of cooking with her children. “For them to be creative, for them to try and be as independent as possible with it.”
