Meghan Markle's ShopMy wardrobe is 'no coincidence' as she's compared to Taylor Swift
Meghan could be evolving into an influencer...
Meghan Markle recently revealed her latest project, a ShopMy storefront where she displays all her most loved items, curated into a dreamy wish list that most of us can only dream of.
You might think this is just a creative venture for the duchess, but it seems Megs is in pursuit of a billionaire fortune and is following in the footsteps of none other than global superstar Taylor Swift…

Meghan Markle’s ShopMy venture
PR and Crisis Management Expert, Edward Coram-James at Go Up has weighed in on the topic and shed light on how the Duchess of Sussex is elegantly navigating her next career steps and pitching her way to success.
Coram-James explains that Meghan’s attempt to branch out into clothing is genius and might even be the big break the former actress has been waiting for.
“Honestly, I think it’s a genius PR move. She’s not selling, not directly anyway, although there will, of course, be commission. Rather, she’s saying, ‘A lot of you asked, so here you go.’
“It feels like a conversation rather than a sales pitch. And the beauty of it is that it works both ways. Fans feel closer to her because they can own something she loves, but it also builds her brand. This is how you create longevity. I wouldn’t be surprised if she ventures into listing her favourite children’s clothing next – something relatable, sustainable, and family-oriented.
“It’s the perfect next step.”

Meghan Markle’s ‘relatable’ business move
It looks like Meghan is on the right track when it comes to cashing in, but can we really say she is relatable whilst married to a British prince and living it up in a jaw-dropping Montecito mansion?
“It’s clear that Meghan loves her luxury. She’s always had great taste and, love or hate her, is recognised for her fashion. But crucially, she’s not forcing or encouraging her followers to splurge here.
“Those who want to buy an aspirational piece can, and those who want a more budget-friendly option can also join in. I liken this to Taylor Swift’s approach to fashion. Taylor is very calculated with everything she does, especially in terms of her public appearances, like at Chiefs games.
While she states she is an entrepreneur, those actions are straight out of the influencer playbook. So she is walking a line between the two.
“But by often wearing just one affordable item in an outfit, she makes it accessible without compromising her image. When Meghan mixes high and low fashion, like mentioning a Zara item on her show, or listing a hair serum on her Closet page, it’s not just a coincidence; it’s a conscious choice to make her style both aspirational and accessible.”
The Duchess of Sussex is almost an influencer
Okay, so maybe Meghan has got this indirect selling thing down to an art…but should a royal really be edging ever closer to the world of influencers?
Coram-James details how Meghan is blurring the lines and his thoughts on her powerful influence.
“From a branding perspective, the lines are blurring.
“Meghan Markle possesses an undeniable influence. Her past royal association, coupled with her existing celebrity, creates a powerful platform. Her recent actions, particularly the use of affiliate links, are classic influencer strategies. While she states she is an entrepreneur, those actions are straight out of the influencer playbook. So she is walking a line between the two.”
