Prince Harry's 'regret' over royal 'sacrifice' as family 'would welcome him back into fold'
The Duke of Sussex has become estranged from his familyPrince Harry may have some regrets over his exit from royal life and some family members could welcome him back into the fold, a former butler has suggested.
In early 2020, Harry and wife Meghan Markle announced they were stepping back from their senior royal roles. At the time, they said they would divide their time between the US and the UK and wanted to become financially independent. However, they vowed to continue to support Queen Elizabeth II.
Now, five years on, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the royal family has become strained thanks to their damning allegations and comments in TV shows and interviews.
Prince Harry’s ‘regrets’ over exit from royal family
Now, former royal butler Grant Harrold has shared his thoughts on the couple’s exit from their royal duties.
Grant believes the Duke of Sussex may have “some regrets about the fact that he’s left his home life, his friends and his family behind”.
I have no doubt some members would welcome them back into the family but not as they were before.
Speaking on behalf of Slingo, Grant said: “There’s part of me that thinks Harry does have some regrets about the fact that he’s left his home life, his friends and his family behind to start a new life in the US.
“It was a big move with a lot of sacrifice. For Meghan, she still had her friends and, to an extent, her family in the form of her mum, so she didn’t have to make as huge a sacrifice.
“But I’m a huge believer in fate and things happen for a reason.”
Some royal family members would ‘welcome’ Harry and Meghan back into the fold
Grant went on to predict that some members of the monarchy would welcome Prince Harry and Meghan back, despite all the drama over the past five years.
He continued: “I think things could have been different if Harry and Meghan had done a longer test run of the half-in and half-out scenario, rather than a complete breakaway.
“Then they could have worked out all the bumps in the road. But that was a long time ago now. Could they return?
“I’m not sure they could ever be working royals again. I have no doubt some members would welcome them back into the family but not as they were before. Harry and Meghan are both still technically senior royals and they have an important role to play if they want, but I don’t think they do.”
‘Things won’t change’ when Prince William becomes king
Prince Harry’s older brother Prince William is the current heir to the throne. And when the Prince of Wales becomes monarch, Grant doesn’t think anything will change.

He said: “When William eventually becomes king, I don’t think things will change. Obviously it would be nice for him to have his brother by his side but for William.
“He won’t close any doors and if the relationship is healed, then who knows? But I can’t see it happening.”
